Trade everyone and everything (except Yao & McGrady, natch) for KG. That includes Head, Juwan, Rafer, Novak, Snyder and yes, even Battier plus future picks for KG. Yao-McGrady-KG Franchise for MLE Play Hayes at SG for all I care. ---- Otherwise back to reality, package Luther & 1st to trade up and grab the best blue chipper that drops. And if Battier has the value to garner a lottery pick again - DO IT. Best case scenario - Houston selects SG Corey Brewer (or Rudy Fernandez) and PF Joachim Noah. That would give Houston some talented youth with the missing ingredients - the expectations of a winner & fire.
Because the Game would go from the Point Guard through Yao and distributed to the shooters. (The inside outside game). He could be traded but Les makes a lot of money from having Yao on his team. Anyway if we have a new Coach I think Yao could play a very different game far removed from the restrictions which JVG has placed upon him, during his tenure. Lets hope that both Tracy and Yao will be the corner stones of the team next season
It all depends whick kind of reward we will get. If it isn't attractive, I am prone to keep him, it is his first playoff season, I wish he will play "normal" next year. And Rockets is still short of 3 point shooters, you can see how important it is in this playoff season.
Look,we all like the guy but let's face it. Based on the facts, he is more a liability than an asset. His performance has it's up's and down's...so it's really a risk to keep him. He is young, has a trade value so if Rox can earn something from him, i think they should trade him. After all, EVERYONE has a price, sad but true.
I'm sure a team like PHX or GS would be a willing recipient of his services... Head has made alot of strides this year. you have to remember that this is only his second year and he has a very reasonable contract for two more years, with a 3rd year option...his game is flawed, but he is a very hard worker and a great teammate; which is something I would like this team to continue to value... that being said, if we could package him for acie I would make that move...
Why do people think he won't get better? He can already shoot, working on dribbling and passing is a lot easier than working on shooting. That being said....heck yes, I would trade him......for the right price. DD
Willing to let Head go? Yeah, off course! Throw Head and Alston in one deal and trade for Nelson and Arroyo! http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...ams=10~10~19~19
I was really disappointed in Head. I thought he would elevate his game in the playoffs. He didn't even defend his man well. I like Head, but if we can get a more consistent scorer, whether it is a guard or forward, then trade him.
NO, I don't like any idea to trade current roxes to anywhere. I belive they can do it if we can get a new coach and replace Sura, Bonzi with two good players.
I don't really mind the fact that he can't dribble or pass (even though they are problems)... I'm more concerned about his size/physical stature (he's a shrimp compared to some of the other guys the west conf. is throwing out there), and his inability to finish strong at the rim. Utah had a good strategy... close out big-time on Head to eliminate open 3's, and dare him to put the ball on the floor to drive it by him. He can't dribble, and more importantly even if he does get by his man, he's a very inconsistent finisher (thus making him ONE-dimensional). I don't see him getting much bigger in the off-season, and unless he can magically learn how to palm a basketball, he won't be a big finisher either.
The only position he is really suited to play as far as physical stature goes is PG..... And he is not good at that...... DD
Have some faith in Head, people!! He is a great shooter, and could be greater. He is not physically strong and may not take ball to the rim. But look at Steve Kerr, he did not strong neither, he turned out to be a clutch shooter. If Rox trade Head out, we fans will definately regret this decision!
Head can be a great sixth-man! The players needed to be traded out most are JL, Rafer, and get a decent PG! I will agree if we trade Novak, Rafer, and JL for a decent PG! But I doubt no other team is willing to make this trade. So why not give V-Span a shot?
Head is a 2nd year guy who proved to be very clutch (OK not in this playoff). He's small and really played out of position when he came in as the PG. Now, you gotta trade value for value and Head does have some. So if he is what's needed to move up in the draft for a PG or PF we can have for the future than that's the way to go. If he's not traded, than the new coach needs to use Head correctly. Don't ask him to be a PG when he's not. Let me shoot the 3 and make sure he learns to fake and take a step sideways so the rush at him defense will not work. As long as Yao is here and demanding double teams, you need a sharpe shooter to keep the defense honest.
I said it last year and I'll say it again: Head is a career backup. If we can somehow convince some other team to part with a potential starter for him or a package deal including him, then I'd do it w/o hesitation.
