Head only has two season's remaining on his contract. Taking that into account and the Battier (locked in long term) for 8th pick trade... My guess is even bundling the rockets pick Head might snare at best the 18th pick.
I have a thing for Luther, so no. Besides, who would be Tracy's backup? Snyder? I don't think so. He can dunk. That's about it. At least Luther's 3s are worth more than a few Snyder dunks here and there.
BUt is he really that high? 12th pick? One drawback of getting Acie Law is that he will not be able to contribute much the first year...
The only player who should feel confident about coming back next season should be Yao Ming, all the others should consider that there is a strong possibility that they could be included in a trde/transaction this off season. Because we we need strong tall athletic players who can shoot and go to the basket.
I think it says a lot about our supporting cast that someone would make a thread asking if we would be willing to let go of Head. On most other good NBA teams he would be in just about every trade scenario you could imagine, without so much as a second thought. Our supporting cast is that bad.
Head is definitely not untouchable. After his performance in the playoffs his use to the team is limited. He was definitley exposed on the defensive end by Harping and even Giricek. He can't run the point and really can 't effectively create his own shot. His decision making is below average, so hell yeah if he can be part of a deal to get an athletic power forward or a guy that can create his own shot. I know he was part of our success in the regular season but the overall good of the team is of more importance. Oh yeah did anyone listen to John Lopez between noon to 3:00 PM? He said to the effect that he had sources saying Van Gundy to step down and announce the decision tomorrow. Am I correct?
Agree. Head proved his "worth" in the postseason. He's not good enough to be on the floor unless he's hitting 3s. He's a 6-3 guard who can't defend, can't pass, and just seems to be intimidated way too often to be considered a valuable piece of a contending team at this point.
Oh come on... there is NO WAY either TMac or Yao will be traded. I am willing to bet $100 on it. If your logic is true, last I check, Yao is far from the "strong tall atheltic players ...", so why he can't be traded? After all, Les wants to play small ball.
The thing is he's one of the top PG in the draft that's PG light while there are several teams other than the rockets who don't have the money (either re-signing own players and luxury tax) in free agency to spend.
