All depends on what you mean by "significant". Significant meaning improving our chances to win? I would be disappointed if he didn't at least make a smaller move to help solidify our bench because I think that's significant.

It would be good to see Morey make a significant deal to improve the team but I don't know what move he can make at this point. The Rox have good player assets on the team but the only assets I feel that would get other teams attention to give a player back of any real significance would probably take dealing Tjones or Parsons. I would hate to see the Rox part with those two at this point. Lin because of his contract and Asik's contract/health issues will not get the Rox much at this point I don't believe.

Eh, I don't know. I actually think if we had this whole team 100% healthy at the same time we'd be pretty damn scary, problem is we have pretty much never had that this season.

Would I like to get Kevin Love or even a guy like Melo? Obviously, but that may not be realistic, especially if Asik's trade value is tanked by his continuing injury problems and his bad attitude.

Asik needs to be gone. We need nice rotational players, not a star at the moment.

The window of opporturnity to win a championship tends to be much smaller than what is perceived at any point time in time (e.g. Ming and McGrady).

From that standpoint, and having two of the best players in that respective position, Morey should do everything possible to land a key piece, or two very good role players to strengthen the bench.

IMO, we are in position to win NOW if Morey could swing that trade.

Yes if he just gives Asik away.

No, if he can eventually get fair value by waiting till summer or next season.

All depends of what he does with Asik.

Nothing else would be that significant.

Yes. Our bench is weak and we have a thin front line.

Currently constructed this team might not even pass the first round, especially if the playoffs started today (no way we are winning against the Clippers).

We are a trade away from contention.

As much as this team needs a defensive center that actually boxes out coming off the bench, anything is an upgrade over the zero production Asik is giving right now. Especially with the bench being basically Lin, Casspi, and D-Mo right now.

Asik has to go, he's hampered this team enough and if we are really gonna contend we need a legit back up for Dwight.

Yes - if for nothing else than the prospect of having cap room going into the offseason from a Lin or Asik trade (via expiring contracts). I don't think we necessarily need to trade one or both for a star player but having that flexibility to sign a FA this (or next) offseason is huge if you ask me.

The way this team is and has been built having a guy making $8m a year (and one could assume both are looking for at least as much if not more after next year) coming off the bench should be resolved for both parties sake.

Trade Asik for a pick and sign Bynum (veterans exception?)

trades should be put in perspective since we've been somewhat spoiled with DM.

I'm not expecting nor will be upset if we do not acquire an all-star calliber player.

But thats not how I define a "significant" trade. I think a great trade would be to move spare surplusses (a PG, a PF-C, for a wing player that can either play stellar D or drain--korver/dunleavy esque)

Hell yeah I'll be disappointed if we don't make a trade. We've reached Morey's wheelhouse - building around stars... time for that Battier type trade that nets us a consistent 3ball threat with some perimeter defense or getting us a big that can play without Asik's baggage...

oh Morey will make a move... just a question of to what magnitude.

If they can play like last night consistently they may not need anything - but it seems like last night was most about the 3pt shots falling. They need to at the very least shore up the bench. Garcia and Brewer are not going to do it - Casspi, Lin and AB are valuable along with Asik if he'll ever play. So yes, if they don't at least move Asik, it would be disappointing, but not the end of the world - the team can still potentially compete with any team, but maybe not comfortably.

Definitely. The Rockets need bench help and have a center who's making millions of dollars who refuses to play and could be of use to a dozen other teams. It's ridiculous to keep Asik around til next season while getting nothing out of him(and paying him at the same time).

The Rockets will NOT have reasonable cap space this offseason unless both Asik and Lin are gone. It doesn't work if only one is gone.

There's no need to factoring 2014 capspace in any trade scenarios. The Rockets won't have any capspace of value(aka > MLE).
