Don't take it the wrong way Rox fans... I don't like the Jazz either. I am a Lakers fan first and Rox fan second. I did not anticipate you folks to agree with me however in order to progress this debate further, I would like to request repliers to provide some beliefs as to where I made flaws in my judgement.

    Bob,

Thanks for your feedback. You made a few very valid points however I do question one of your views.

"* Rudy has shown that he can exploit and enhance a center's game as much as (I'm not saying more than) any coach in NBA history. Some people definitely would not have gotten the productivity out of Dream and the championships that Rudy did. The offense met Dream's talents perfectly, so we could expect that Yao is in good coaching hands. Sloan has never had a center worth beans, but he tends to simply insult his centers until they fall into fetal positions on the bench."

I agree with you that Rudy is a great coach and did an amazing job with the Dream. However, don't you think that the personnel playing alongside the Dream had something to do with it? The dream had a great group of role players to work with. Guys like Horry, Otis Thorpe, Cassell etc. All these guys were team players and were at their prime when playing with the dream.

So my point is that even IF Rudy comes up with a masterful plan, would Moochie stop dribbling so much? Will Mobeley contribute besides only shooting? Will Franchise be a team player? Will a PF play solid defense and help rebound?

    Regards,

    Mr. B

What will help Ming is being together with a team over a long period of time to become comfortable in the "motion" type offense that the Rockets are implementing.

Utah?? Flopton and Karla will be gone in a year, and Yao will be with Rusta LaRue, John Crotty and Ostertag??? Give me a break, Yao will begin to peak in 5 years when Griffin will be 25, Francis will be 29, Cuttino 31 and have a great range of roll players like Boki, KT and others to fill the gaps. Utah is over.

In a few years when the Rockets peak we will be unstoppable. Unlike your Lakers we may have to face some competition. I'm sure Shaq will be noted as a hoop "God" after his triumphs over Rik Smits, Mutombo, and Todd McCullough. He often gets taken out of his game by Vlade Divac.

Meanwhile, Hakeem went up against David Robinson, Ewing, Jabbar (early) and others that epitomized the days of the big man.

btw.... Don't ever mention any of our core: Ming, Griffin, Francis and Utah in a sentence again unless we're humiliating them!!

    BAN HIM FOR HIS SACRILEGE!!!

Exactly the reason he wouldn't be a better fit in Utah.

That and next year Stockton and Malone would be gone and Yao would have to try and carry a team left with a bunch of no talent role players. In houston he gets a coach who understands the role of a big man, and players established and on the rise intent upon reaching the top, and time to mature and adapt to the NBA game. Here Ming is a piece of the puzzle. There he would be expected to carry the team to greatness.

To play your advocate and assume you're not just trolling (sigh), I honestly have to say that I do worry about him getting the ball. It seems to me Franchise has a new attitude about winning and he'll love the easy assists. I hope so. But it's not obvious to me yet. Everytime I heard about the "stupid" Chinese guards not getting Yao the ball this summer, I had to sort of squirm and picture our guards jacking up shots with an open Yao calling for the ball. I remain optimistic, b/c I think Rudy will make the case plain and simple to Cat and Steve.

Yao on the Jazz though, was your main point, and I that is patently ridiculous for many of the posted reasons and still others (e.g. where can any self-respecting huge man find enough decent food to eat there :D :p I mean, I ordered a "dinner salad" once in Salt Lake City, and with no exageration, here's what I got: a pile of brown lettuce, greasy overcooked ground beef spooned on top of the pile, nasty-ass kraft grated cheese put on top of the beef, and the coup-de-gras, a pint of ranch dressing poured over the aforementioned atrocity. dinner salad).

Francis drove Yao to a charity event, already. Mobley's mom is sharing recipes with Yao's mom. They are all becoming friends, already.

What? is Malone going to say, "Hop on the back of my Harley Yao." WTF??? Where would he put his feet?? Yao would burn his huge calves on the tail pipes.

No way. Yao is not suited for Utah. You can't convince me.

    Thanks Bob!!

I really hope for the best for Yao in Houston but I am just being objective. I also worry about Yao getting the ball as well. I really wish that the Rox would trade for some TEAM players but thats a different debate.

You may or may not be right, BUT...

What's your point? The Jazz don't have Yao and they're NEVER going to get him. We have him, and unless he goes belly-up like Ralph or Sam Bowie, I don't think CD will be trading him anytime in the next 12-15 years.

Man, what's up with these far-fetched-scenario posts? "Hey, wouldn't it be great if we could trade Yao for Wilt and Dr. J. in their prime??" Whatever.

Troll garbage. You're sitting here accusing the Rockets of not having any team players, yet they're 4-1 in the preseason because the players who you accuse of not being team players are spreading the ball around, passing, and taking to a new system when they could have easily have been selfish and worry about their own stats. Francis is averaging 10 assist per game in the preseason, and Mobley is taking less shots. T-Mo is the last guy off the bench, yet he got hot in the preseason and the first thing the rest of the team did was get him the ball. Why don't you actually watch the Rockets play NOW instead of accusing the team of being selfish.

You make a real funny thread !! This is the best I have laughed in weeks

To have a Jazz fan coming and checking out our team and drooling over our players is just the cats meow

I for 1 am going to enjoy watching the Jazz fall from the upper teir of the basketball platform and with there age they could really be a lottery team this year

MAN THAT WOULD BE SO FRIGGING WONDERFUL.

I am actually a Lakers fan... Purple and Gold baby!!

But you guys better enjoy Yao while you can. Because 4 years from now when he matures into a 7"6 320 franchise player averaging 27.6 pts, 15.7 reb, 5.6 assist, 5.2 blks, 65% FG, 84% FT, he will be a FREE AGENT and I am sure my Lakers will go after him either as a free agent or through a trade. Just like how we were able to get some of the best centers of all time (Wilt, Kareem and Shaq).

In 4 years, Shaq will retire and it will be Kobe and Ming baby!!! Gosh I love basketball...

I see what you're trying to say, but Stockton is 40.
I'd think he'd be more effective on the Nets.
I mean, if Mutombo is on the team, why can't a more skilled player like Yao?

Yeah whatever. How many times have we had people come in here and claim they're Kings fans when they're Grizzlies fans? Lakers fans when they're probably Clippers or Jazz fans. Typical troll garbage. By the way, by the time he matures into a 7-6 320 pounds franchise player the Rockets will be paying him 100 million dollars. OOOPS! Bye-bye mrbasketball troll.
