The current uniforms are a step up from the previous ...excluding the red and gold ones.

IIRC, the biggest reason we changed our unis in the first place was because the original unis were ugly. At least in the sense that even after the Rox won their two championships, nobody outside of Houston wanted to buy Rockets gear. The Ketchup and Mustard and old school logo didn't make for appealing hats, t-shirts, jackets, etc . . . and nobody wanted to buy Rox stuff. We just won 2 rings and we still couldn't sell our gear to the rest of the country.

Of course, we didn't really move to something better. But I believe the current unis are better. When you look around opposing arenas now, you see more people wearing Houston gear than you did in the 90's and I don't think that's all because of Yao. I think nostalgia has a way of making people think things were better than they were. I have fond memories of the Astros rainbow unis but I don't think they look better than what we have today.

Is Patrick O'Bryant Irish? Do the Celtics wear green for him?

How about the "Rocket's red glare"? You know, as in the National Anthem of the United States? Or do you think that the Rocket's were Communist sympathisers back in the old days as well? Or maybe back then Les owned a majority share in McDonald's?

    Another tinman bait thread.

All teams constantly change their uniforms to make diehard fans buy new ones frequently. If they never changed the designs sales would keep going down. Kind of like iPods.

Did the Lakers completely change their team colors?
    or the Celtics?
    or the Bulls?
    or the Spurs?

Aren't we a team of 'tradition'?

We've gone back to red...I don't see how that is a problem. I like the current uni's but think we definitely need an alternate, and they could use some tweaks here and there to make them pop a little more, but overall pretty good.

Did Memphis Tigers get new uni's this year? I saw them last night watching college ball. They looked cool. hard to tell from below, but kind of cool in that the front is pure white and the back is more of a cream off-white - sounds weird, but looked cool.

EDIT: You can see them better in the video highlights.

Personally I was quiet found of all the jerseys and own at least 1 of each. My Favorite is my old school Red Jersey with #25 Horry and #34 Olajuwon. I even have the blue pinstripes with #34 . The one I've thought about returning is my Red #1 Mcgrady. :(

Hopefully Santa leave me a Scola jersey under the tree! :D

BTW, Les would have changed the jersey from the blue pins stripes to the current Red and White anyways, the pin stripes were hated by most.

i still don't like the modern uniforms. I feel yellow should be part of the color scheme.

    JayZ,
I'm not trying to confuse you like DazEffects.

Nothing is wrong with the NEW uniforms. My question is would they have EXISTED if Yao didn't show up. I believe we'd still have a variation of the pinstripe Steve Francis blue uniforms.

And for the people who think Les listens to fans, where's Calvin Murphy?
is he next to Bill Worrell?

I believe that Yao had EVERYTHING to do with the current uniform change. We even hired an Asian designer to come up with something a little more "Eastern", hence the logo and the cut of the uniforms. I didn't even realize it was a debate....I almost specifically remember them SAYING it was because they wanted a fresh start with Yao coming in, and they wanted to channel the Eastern culture a little bit with the new uniforms and logo.

FWIW, I love the new logo and color scheme, but I hate the cuts of our uniform. I wish they would go back to the round neck.
