One constant on CF.net is the hate for Francis continues..

Seriously though I can't believe any rational person wouldn't take Francis back for the vet minimum. Francis wouldn't be our primary or even third option, heck he might not even start, but one thing Francis brings to the Rockets is heart. When the current crop of Rockets lose they often look very flat and unispired. Yao and T-Mac are great players but they aren't emotional players and sometimes you need a player like Francis to make a tough shot in traffic or crash the boards from no where to rip down a tough rebound to get people fired up. That's what Mario Elie brought to the champion Rockets and that's what Francis could do for this current crop.

Anyway the question wasn't do we trade someone for Francis it was if he gets waived and comes and play for the vets mininimum. You would be a fool to turn down an offer like that.

I agreed with some of jopatmc comments regarding Francis ability to mesh & contribute with & to the currents Rockets team. Francis would indeed be a good scorer off the bench for the rockets, someone to provide energy, penetration and attitude, while lacking in spot up shooting, size to play good defense against two guards and quickness to guard the fast points. So if the question is (absurd as it is) should we take Francis for the Vet Minimum the answer should be a resounding YES.

Are their concerns about "chemistry" his ability to mesh with the team, etc etc... of course, BUT its worth those risk when the cost of the problem is so low. If Francis doesnt work out, waiving him or cutting him or trading him is an easy solution to the problem without a negative cost to the Rockets. This is exactly the situation we currently have with Bonzi Wells. (I'd take Bonzi over Francis for this team) Of course this is all moot as the probability of NY waiving or cutting the remainder 3years on his contract approximately 50million+ is almost nill.

This is an utterly incomprehensible idea, which is poorly concieve to say the least. The idea that the Rockets paying Steve Francis the MLE when his contract runs out in 3 years is ridiculous. Steve Francis will be 32/33 by that time, his athletic ability will in all likelihood be in rapid decline and his worth/value due to age and 4 years of playing in NY will and should be much less than the MLE! I mean if Francis were somehow on the market after THIS season, his value wouldnt be the full MLE for but a few teams... imagine when he is 32 or 33 years old.

No, an allstar player if he wants to be, but i dont think he would be a good fit for this team right now.

Weisbrod getting the ax while we end up with Francis, TMAC and Yao sure would rub it in to Orlando that we got the best of that trade!! LOL :D :D :D

Hate his bball IQ, but miss his big heart in Rocket's uni.
If he is willing to take MLE after his current max expires, I would like to have him back. ;)

For veterans minimum, absolutely. For a trade ay any sort, hell no....unless it was for JHo straight up or something, that is. Currently, here is no young talent I'd give up for him.

What if the trade was Bonzi for Francis? Plus change, of course.

For the vet's minimum, I'd take him back. He could play either as a backup and bring instant offense off the bench, or start as a small shooting guard.
