I'd do it even though I love Scola and Landry and we'd lose more games as a result this season. Bosh is a step up from both and Daryl Morey is our GM. I'm confident in Morey's ability to pick up someone of Scola and Landry's talent level in the late 1st early 2nd area.
Having ScoLandy really helps protect us from injury. I know only 5 players ont he court at once but usually one of them has it rolling and they get bigger minutes. Putting all of your eggs in one (older) basket does not seem very good. It seems like taking a large chance.
...bigger than the minutes he's playing now. He's our best player, he won't be playing 25 minutes or less. Regardless, he'll inevitably push someone out of the rotation - which makes losing both Scola and Landry not as difficult because we know Chuck can step right in and be productive. He'd be a great compliment to Bosh when Yao isn't on the court.
McGrady + Brooks + Scola for Bosh + Calderon + Banks Losing both Landry AND Brooks would be devestating I would think. This lineup is interesting to say the least: Calderon/Lowry/Banks Ariza/Taylor Battier/Budinger Bosh/Landry Yao/Hayes/Andersen You have some crazy effecient offensive players and some crazy effecient defensive players. I have to ponder on this a while.
Definetely not both. But I understand the fact that Landry is young and at this point showing a great upside. I would trade either one but not both. I think both Scola and Landry (either) could do well with Bosh.
I can't say for sure, I'm not the coach. I would guess 30 minutes or more depending on how the game progresses. The fact that he's playing 0 minutes now was my whole point. He'll push someone out of the rotation or drastically reduce their minutes. Scola/Landry/Hayes are all pretty productive but even if you get rid of two of them it isn't as much of an issue with the addition of Yao and Bosh, two great players who will play starter minutes. The minutes break down could look like this: Yao - 30 Bosh - 34 Hayes - 22 Andersen - 10
Money aside, yes I'd do it. Could go to war with Bosh/Hayes/Andersen/Yao. If you treat Yao as a replacement to Scola. It could either be like the Otis Thorpe trade, paying dividends later. Or could be like the Barkley trade, getting immediate improvement hoping it doesnt sink you later.
If they trade Bosh, then they're rebuilding and I don't see any reason they'd be interested in Scola. He's too old to be a part of the rebuilding process. It's more likely they would want a package that included Landry, Brooks and Budinger and perhaps a draft pick. Young superstars don't come all that cheap, even if they're an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Bosh will command a max contract and I don't think he is that kind of player. I think Luis and Carl give you the same production, or close to it, for a quarter of the price. So, no.
I agree with ur whole points.both luis and carl will demand more money next or next next seasons.I don't see any chance for DM to reduce the cost of salary for this team.So why not trade these two player now and in return we can bring back a superstar who can really help yao to dominant the paint area.
That is clutch fans, overrating every player who can score. Say no to Landry and Scola for Bosh, say no to Brooks for Nash, sign Wafer MLE.
Both? No way, One of them maybe... I would hate to see either of these two guys go, I think us as Rockets fans have attached ourselves to these two, they are likable, and they play their butts off. I don't think Bosh can lead a team by his self, If Yao is completely healthy and we surround those two with our talent we have, Then I'd be all for it...
