He took less money to stay and play in Houston he was rewarded for his loyalty with a knife in his back . . . Rocket River
A dick move? It will lessen chances of us picking up any much needed savvy veterans in the future because once you do that they'll remember what we did to HAKEEEEEEEEEEEM. So, it'll hurt us more than him.
It's not a dick move to trade the guy, but I do think the organization has to be careful how they treat players that sign under certain circumstances. It doesn't take long for a gm or organization to get a bad rap with players and that would be a nightmare. Just look at the Texans and how poorly they have handled several situations. Several players have come out and commented on it.
Hey, he signed here to help the Rockets win a championship. If he goes to NO and Paul comes here and the Rockets are champions, he's helped out in a big way.
Does it really matter? If he's a salary filler, the team trading for him won't actually want him to play. In that case, he'd just get released, sit 30 days, and come play after that. The number of teams willing to play someone like Barry can probably be counted on one hand. Most teams would prefer to develop their young players instead.
If he came here for the money, not a dick move. If he came here for historic reasons, dick move. If he came here for less money, big dick move. But like someone said, don't ever feel sorry for someone making millions.
How could trading Barry be a dick move? He's the only Rockets player who truly sucks. He's bad at shooting 3s, he's bad at driving, he's bad at passing, his defense is mediocre, and he can't dunk easily anymore, opting instead for layups (that he often misses). I can't think of one good thing about him, except that his Hall of Fame dad sometimes comes to the games and I've had the good fortune to meet him. OK, so he is a good locker room presence, but that alone is not enough. Deke was a positive force in the clubhouse, too, but he could actually play. We've done Barry a huge favor paying him all these millions all these years. The guy should be on Rockets broadcasting with Matt Bullard. There, I said it. (I don't come down hard on our guys, either. There's no other Rox player who's as bad as Barry. Except maybe Cook and White, but I didn't see enough of them this year to make a judgement.)
The players know it is a business, the ownership knows, and some fans know..... Barry may be traded, and it would neither shock nor annoy him, he is not a rookie at understanding the nature of the business.... DD
I think Jon was cut, not traded. He was cut so he could catch on with a team that he might get into their rotation. That was a class move that he was a part of.
