Would the elbow incident be getting all this attention if Artest didn't speak up

The scrutiny that the Fakers will be under for the cheap shot talk is worth it. The talk of being tough is coming back, and this time the cheap stuff is going to really plant seeds in their mind.

Nobody would have given it a second thought had Artest not called attention to it like that. Now that the spotlight is on his dirty moves, people are seeing him for what he really is.

yup, but artest assumed a flagrant 1, not a rejection.
Even if rockets make a run, refs will blow it anyway.

Methinks maybe Ron is more clever than people think. Maybe he instantly saw the opportunity to bring out in the light what Bryant gets away with a lot. It WAS after the Fisher foul. What better way to "retaliate" than by the relatively peaceful means of exposing Bryant's "habitually" dirty play. There are probably a lot of players around the league cheering Artest right about now. (Even though they may have had him on the same list in years past. Of course if that's true, they may see his reaction as hypocritical.) Artest can be crafty.

Question is - what did Adelman think about what Ron did and all that happened? Was he in any way upset with Ron? Or would we know?

Because of Artest's heroic (and yet well-controlled) action, everybody (at lest I hope) will be focusing on Kobe's elbow's every move. Thanks, Artest, for the great service.

    no of course not.

3 refs watching that play pretended they didnt see it

NBA mouthpiece Doug Collins didn't say anything.

who is going to make an issue of it? random internet posters on Clutchfans?

Ron did the right thing the right way by making it clear what happened

Imo, on a big picture scale, it was worth it. I understand the Rockets had a CHANCE to win that game, but to be totally fair, the Lakers were playing better than the Rockets. Yes, the Lakers were playing dirtier (Rockets are not immune to this because Scola plays dirty too, but Lakers much more so), but really, Lakers had a 10 pt lead. Ron fouled Kobe; Kobe flagrant fouled Ron...Rockets would have got 2 fts and it would have been Lakers ball I think...

The chances were slim. Lakers were imposing their style better than the Rockets and the Rockets were turnover prone and unable to get Yao the ball in good spots (fault of the whole team).

I sure hope the spotlight on Kobe will be worth it...that dude gets fouled a lot on drives, but he also fouls a lot on offense and gets away with it.

Hubie Brown basically said the same thing last night -- what Ron did was perfectly right thing to do under the circumstances.

sure not. Kobe is a dirty player, everyone knew that, but for some reasons, people (particularly media) just keep forgetting it. Ron remained us (fans and media) about that FACT.

I wish Battier reacted more when Kobe elbow/knee him at first game, then fans and media would be remained even earlier. Remember when Terry punched Finley, on court camera and footage had nothing on it, but Finley was really pissed off (like Ron) and NBA had to look at the footage from different angle later to confirm it. If Finley was acting classy as Battier, there would be no action at all. You just have to stand up to those dirty cheap shot! Otherwise, they will not keep doing that, Kobe is the example. Everybody include Kobe himself said he doesn't need dirty play given his amazing talent, but Kobe does that anyway, all the times, that tell what a low life he is, what a shame!

Even after game, Shane still said it's a part of game. I guess Ron apparent does not agree with Shane on this and rightly so. What Kobe did was plain dirty, should not be part of playoff. And Ron made sure everybody aware of it, again!
