Hey everybody, first of all this is my stance - dont overpay for nene.. im not feeling him (doesnt have what we need ie shot blocking, defence) - offer gasol the max - go all in for cp3 or dwight.... but dont trade martin - patterson is overrated on this board Now that i got that out of the way lol, I was thinking that if we do overpay nene, or aquire him nonetheless, would he be a desirable trading piece for Chris Paul/ Howard? In other words, since he would be our most valued asset, would he help us get cp3 or howard through a trade or would the teams be turned away by the contract, his age or not fitting in to the plans of rebuilding? ps. we have been pronouncing his name wrong the whole time lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNX8W0fH2UY
Haha i knew someone would jump on that lol.. I'm a fan of his but a lot of ppl have high expectations for him. Yes he is athletic, can block shots and can shoot, but he still does not have a postup game, and is not yet a 1 on 1 attacker. Hopefully Mchale can help him out but I dont see his potential as high as others. If we need low post offense, id rather have scola, but this kid is gonna be a solid player in this league. not an allstar like ppl project him to be. Hopefully, he proves me wrong
Well he was no.5 on the Rockets draft board. If the Rockets tanked for a high lottery pick they draft... Patrick Patterson. They won't admit it now but they were high on Thabeet too.
What would be REALY nice! -Sign Nene -Trade Scola, Lowry, Bud, Dragic, Hill, Picks For -CP3, fillers if needed Sign Dwight next off season PG: CP3/Flynn SG: KMart/Lee SF: Morris/TWill PF: Nene/Pat C: D12/Hayes I realize the unlikeliness of this... But a guy can dream, right?
What is with this dumb ass obsession with Chris Paul..we have lowry and the ****ing dragon. My hair hurts
Not many rookie big men come into the league with a post-up game. If Patterson had that he would have been a top 5 pick. Just because he doesn't have that yet doesn't mean he can't develop it though considering his work ethic and willingness to learn and improve. He was a great value pick at #14 and he's going to be a big part of our rotation.
he will be a big part of our roatation but i do not see him as an all star in the future.. With people wanting dwight and nene. that would be a bad matchup because they both need to be in the low post to be effective (spacing issues) the upgrade of cp3 over lowry is that his name puts us back on the map and he can attract FA. he is also a proven star while lowry (with all signs pointing to it) had half a good season. cp3 IS better than lowry.... but lowry has more upside and has a better contract though
Ok let's stop there for a second. You say don't overpay for Nene cause he doesn't offer shot blocking or defense. Then you say offer 17.41 million for Marc Gasol. Gasol isn't exactly a shot blocker either and they are comparable on defense.
Nene is not a superstar not even close. Is he even better than David West? Cmon now, people are overrating Nene recently. I doubt CP3 would run here because of him.
In regards to Lowry or CP3, if we want to talk about value/production that goes to Lowry. But there is in no way anyone can say that he is on the same level as CP3. An injured CP3 destroyed him last year heads up and I think he made a couple huge clutch comebacks to beat the Rockets. CP3 led an arguably worst NO roster to the playoffs while the rockets fell short. We had a roster shake mid season while they battled injuries. Lowry may have the potential to become CP3 but I highly doubt he would ever become better than CP3. Now I'm not saying Houston should break the bank and try go sign this guy but lets not be biased here. This is homerism at it's finest.
