I think hes a bit too broken down and as stated before, his defense is really bad

    Don't sign the guy:

    - We have Shane Battier who can shoot the ball also get it done defensivly
    - Novak can also shoot the ball at a high percentage
    - Hes soft
    - I & bunch of other rockets fans dont like him :p
    - I rather spend our money trying to get bonzi wells

Considering our player/exception trade possibilities, I am only trying to be realistic. I'd love to have Bonzi Wells or Lamar Odom or Kevin Garnett for that matter, but it isn't going to happen. KVH is a sweet shooting PF with range and experience who we might be able to pick up for a year or two at $2M. He doesn't play defense, but that's why he is cheap.

We have shored up (somewhat) our PG, SG and SF positions, but we have done nothing but weaken our PF/C positions. Board members may scoff, but losing Swift hurts our depth. It is a need management must address and, so far, not so good.

    To Keith:
Vet minimum for 3 years, 3nd year team is team option. Houston is your best shot to have anything good happen for in this league. So take it or leave it.

    1. We are not getting Odom.
    2. KVH is not worth our 4.2 TE

I was big on getting him too but honestly I'm not even sure he's better than Novak now.

All he did was camp at the 3 point line and he doesn't move either. His offensive skills have just disappeared because of his injuries. He used to at least have a mid-range game and he could drive a little bit. Now he's been reduced to a statue that occasionally can hurl the ball from long distances.

At least Novak has some upside, and can improve with some coaching. Van Horn will only get worse and doesn't give us anything new. He is a veteran with lots of experience, but that doesn't cut it in my mind.

    Let's just pass on him

What was his last contract worth. 10 mil per 4, 5 years. Talking about damaged goods. I really dont think this guy is good. His presence on the court overall adds negative impact just like Walker.

During the last Playoffs one had a chance to observe Van Horn, playing without injury, [ he is often injured] and by his actions on the court the answer for every Rocket Fan should be a resounding NO! We should make the maximum effort to get Bonzi Wells.

KVH is a pu$$y. He's exactly the kind of player we don't need on this team. We've got enough softies already and need attitude as much as we need talent.

We need to pick up Melvin Ely!!!
He was getting 10 and 5 in 20 minutes a game
we need another big in the rotation that could also backup Yao.

    thumbs,

my problem with KVH is that he goes on terrible shooting streaks from the arc. He will get hot for a few games and then cool off for a few games. Maybe thats not that abnormal but he was off a lot more than he was on during the play-offs.

my other problem with him is his defense. Avery could not teach the guy to play defense. Also he spent most of his career playing small forward but has played more and more power forward over the last couple of years.

I would consider him for the vets minimum but not until I explored all other options.
