Rockets 2013-14 Roster PG: Lin-Machado-Ray McCallum(2nd rd pick) SG: Lamb-Harden(4yrs, 58mil)-Tony Allen/another 2nd rd pick SF: Parsons-White-McAdoo(4th pick) PF: Al Jefferson(5yrs, 80mil)-Jones-Patterson C: Asik-Motiejūnas-Noel(1st pick) Lets make it happen!
Why would we get Noel and McAdoo all the way in the back of the rotation? Much rather have like Kyle Andersen and then trade Patterson and draft Noel, move D-Mo to PF. Then sign Harden. I like signing Tony Allen though. Lin-Machado-McCallum Harden-Lamb-Allen Parsons-White-Andersen D-Mo-Jones-Morris Asik-Noel-Smith
the tax is at 70+ mil. not even considering that at some point, likely in 2 years, it should start growing a couple mil a year. which means you could have 3 guys at Harden's price and still have close to 30 mil for supporting cast. even if you aren't high on Harden, you have to consider that a recipe for a contender.
He's still not worth a max deal, especially considering Harden's agent wanted $60 million for 4 years while Rockets are reported to offer around $80 million for 5 years.
He is worth max money at his current level of play, and he hasn't even peaked yet. Offering him a max deal is a no-brainer.
I voted yes, because he will get the offer, and I understand it. Of course I'd rather see him take a little less, but that's just the armchair GM in me talking. He'll get paid.
I wasn't for it before I was for it. As a UFA, I wouldn't have given him a max offer. But since we gave up so many assets, we gotta give him the max to get him to stay.
Harden's camp was reportedly seeking 4yrs 60 million deal, why would we offer 5yrs 80 million Can't we just give him what he wanted...
I might just be in the minority with you dude. That said, we also don't know for certain how he will play out as a starter so it's up in the air. After reading more articles on him, I think he was a great pick up, but still unsure on the price paid with all the picks...
joel has a max contract. it doesn't mean he deserves one. harden at best is at the same level as joel. i don't believe his value equals to a max contract. lets see how much he brings to rox on the court.

Chicken-Egg, bro. I think Harden is the type of "asset" that could convince another superstar to sign and/or extend if traded for.
