The only way I'd want Dwight back is on a contract where 100% of his compensation is tied to free throw %/.
Please no. Vogel can turn cheap journeymen centers into productive players. We don't need to spend $23 million for that same production.
The rockets has told Harden to not pass the ball to Howard, so making sure he opts out. This has been planned for a year.
I'd rather Vogel take on Capela as a project. He will have Capela playing like a top 10 center in a couple of years.
Capela is too good to be a "project," in 2-3 years he can be a starting center on a contender. His defensive awareness and touch around the rim need to improve but he clearly has talent. Needs to bulk up a bit too.
Don't forget the cap jumps again after next year too... By signing amax after next year he would be able to get the most value (like many are thinking Durant might do)
If Dwight agrees to a S and T with Houston, what teams are likely to take him? What are the Rockets likely to get back in return?
We're about as likely as seeing McHale working for the Rockets next year as we are seeing Howard. If Howard opted in, he'd get traded. (Probably.)
Morey apparently had a deal(s) in place to trade Dwight at the deadline, but it all hinged on Dwight opting in - which he obviously refused to do. The entire reason he won't opt in is because he thinks he's going to sign a new, max contract this offseason.
This. Dwight is well aware of his lifestyle/expenses and what he needs to keep up appearances. He needs money and this is his last big payday. He is going to the team with the fattest offer.
