Seeing the work Vogel has done with bum centers and rooks up there in Indy,

would bringing him in soon, a la before the opt out date, potentially change Dwights mind and cause him to opt in?

This could potentially have far reaching impacts:confused:
    Could scare Durant away
Could limit other big free agent signings
Could limit how the bench is retooled
Could perpetuate any locker room hostility

Some speculation, but definitely something to think about

Why would anyone want that? I like Dwight a lot, but to be honest he's an over glorified more dramatic less efficient version of Deandre Jordan. If Dwight needed a kidney, I'd be the first to offer mine, but it doesn't mean I think he should stay a rocket .

I'm not saying this is what anyone's pulling for, but if he's rational about it, there aren't a lot of coaches better than Vogel who he would be able to go play for and at the same time earn more than he currently is:(

Does he already have the ability to opt out?
Or has the date not come yet?

The July date is the deadline I thought.

But look at this another way. Would Vogel implement a style that would better suit the pieces we have? (Meaning using Dwight more effectively and therefore make everyone happier).
If that were the case, I'd hate to lose Dwight only to need to find a Dwight V2 of lesser ability.
But to be realistic, bridges are burnt - best he moves on.

I think Dwight secretly misses a Van Gundy run team. Think about it. The minute he left Orlando he's been attacked and scrutinized relentlessly by his own fans.
Plus he had his best success under a Van Gundy.

Dwight will opt out regardless of the coach. Vogel has nothing to do with that.
We are talking about 80+ million guaranteed contract. He wont miss it for any coach.

Dwight will opt out because of Harden. If you were filthy rich already, would you want to work with somebody you really don't like, especially if that person is more entrenched than you?

I sincerely hope hiring Vogel helps us replace Dwight with Mahinmi (if Horford falls through)

No. Dwight wants a contract that will offer tons of money for long term. If he decides to stay in Houston it will only be because we will offer him the best money available. He is no longer Dwight of Orlando and he's doing what will benefit Dwight and his brand. I wouldn't be surprised if Houston made him another offer though. It just won't be what he wants it to be.

You're thinking too hard...Dwight wants money, not a better coach.

If he opts in can we sign him and then trade him? If so, that's the least he can do for us. Worthless sac.

If Dwight opts in because of Vogel, then DO NOT HIRE VOGEL!

I don't think Dwight will opt in because of Vogel, or anyone else.

People need to understand that if Dwight does not play effectively is not cause he's not used the right way by coaches, but cause he's the one who doesn't want to play the right way.

Unless Dwight changes his mind he's opting out.

Historically, nearly all summer coaching hires are done well before June 30th, so that would be far from considered "soon." Most are done before the Draft. Actually, I can't think of any done after the draft...certainly never by Les.

All Les's hires were either in May or first week of June.
