Would Hakeem do any better with this roster/coaches?

Are you familiar with the inside out game? It creates wide open shots.

    So does our current offense.

    We aren't hitting them.

And you might wan't to revisit the illegal zone defenses which Hakeem had a hell of a time with. Those defenses are now legal, which is another factor.

I love Hakeem, but people are letting nostalgia get the better of them.

How many teams are successful in todays NBA with that approach?

That's shortsighted thinking. Olajuwon accumulated his stats against the golden era of centers. How do you think he'd fare against today's competition?

Hakeem is awesome and woukd be great in the era but we're basically asking if you swap harden for Anthony Davis do the rockets become better?

As much as I love Hakeem the answer is prob no. I dont think you can win big anymore with your best player being a big man. The game is just played different now.

Now give me harden with Hakeem and you have the best inside/outside combo since kobe/Shaq.

Could Hakeem lead a team to the playoffs with this team and say a Bradley beal type SG? Most likely but then again harden is leading this same team to the playoffs for the 4tg straight year so I really don't know what the argument is.

Hakeem could dominate the paint but he's not going to hit every post/jumper and when your playing GS or Okc you have to make a lot of 3s to have a chance.

Even a prime Duncan would not win big in the league without Parker and Gino not to mention the emergence of Leonard.

The game has moved away from big. Not one team that has a big as there best player if making the playoffs this year outside of Drummond and he plays on a really well coached and talented team. The gap between player 1-4 is not as much as other teams.

Comparing Davis to Olajuwon is like comparing Reggie Miller to Steph Curry.

Hard to say really. I thought the Rockets really underachieved in the late 80's and early 90's. I thought we had a lot more talent than what our record reflected during those years.

Team chemistry can be a hard thing to find at times. I wonder if Morey is equipped to find players that really work well together.

The intangibles you can't measure is how much Hakeem would improve the Rockets leadership, chemistry, and off-the-court performance. That's also what the Rockets are really missing.

Yes, we'd be a lot better.

Hakeem with Bev and Ariza defensively plus Capela and Dwight as additional defenders?

On offense you'd run a post centered offense with Ariza, Bev, Beasley shooting.

Some of our biggest problems have been defense, rebounding and turnovers. He'd go a long way to solving those. Our main offensive cog wouldn't be turnover prone any longer.

Also if you replace this year's Harden with last year's Harden (not fat, less turnover prone, more efficient, average instead of terrible defense) we'd also be better.

Of course he would, unless you think Harden is better than Hakeem. Dream is disrespected by even Rockets fans nowadays.

He would slap people in the lockerroom for disrespecting the game.

Hakeem would get doubled in the post, thus passing out to the perimeter for wide open 3's...... we are not good at those.

Only Beverley and Ariza can shoot the 3 at a decent clip..... Dmo posts his great percentages from practice but cant do it in games.

Look how lock down Beverly, Ariza and even Harden play when motivated. Hakeem would have no trouble getting Ariza and Beverly motivated to defend sense he a super post up option that creates and defends.

Dumb argument, because then you've replaced 40% of your starting lineup, so it's no longer the same team. Swap just Dwight for Hakeem (with no other changes) and you've massively improved this team. Dream was a better scorer, better playmaker, better passer, and better defender than Dwight.

Remove Jordan from the Bulls, however, and replace him with, say, Drexler as the SG. Different team, and not nearly as good, though both Clyde and MJ are HOFers.

I would run Hakeem at the 4, Dwight at the 5. Hakeem was versatile, Dwight is not. Twin towers baby! I have full faith that Hakeem could adjust his game to fit well with Howard.

    Bev
    Ariza
    Beasley
    Hakeem
    Howard

Is it better than Dallas? Yeah. Better than Utah? Most likely. Better than Portland? Honestly the team defense would be great except for maybe the 3 spot, too small a sample size on Beasley to know.

    So yeah, I'd say yeah.

Howard would pout about not getting enough touches because of Hakeem. Game Over.

Maybe. With Howard coming off the bench.
