I think Moreys strategy of finding these guys is quite interesting especially with how great Asik is doing. Who would have thought he would be the #2 rebounder this year and only .2 rebs a game behind Superman

As we all know, Ginobilio is simply a winner. A great offensive AND DEFENSIVE force. Multiple championships etc.

But what if he left like Harden for more money and minutes early on in his career. Do you think he would have been a better Harden?

Here are some Ginobili stats for you guys

This is his 3rd year per 36 mins

19.5 points, 5.4 rebs, 4.7 assist, 2 steals, .4 blocks, 47% fg, 80% FT, 1.6 3s AND on a LOADED San Antonio Team where he may be 3rd or 4th option AND playing amazing defense

Hardens 4th year (current per 36 mins is)

24.6 points, 4.5 rebs, 5.3 assists, 1.8 steals, .4 blocks, 45% FG, 85% FT, 1.9 3s being the PRIMARY scorer without having to focus on defense

For you advanced stat guys, he has a 22.3 PER in his 3rd year and averaged 21.7 across his ENTIRE career while Harden averaged 21.1 his 3rd year and 19 overall in his career

    Thoughts?

Manu had a high motor on both ends. But he's also less durable. So, he's have been better when healthy, but probably less productive overall due to inability to play extended minutes and stay healthy.

Yes because manu would play defense which is 50% of the game.

He wouldn't make it playing 37 a game as the #1. Too injury prone.

Hard to say who is better, if Manu had gone to a worse team of course he could have put up 25 points a game or so. Plus he already had a ring by his 3rd year so he would have had the pedigree over Harden.

The real problem is that in Harden's 4th year he is 23 and in Manu's 3rd year he was 27. With Manu coming over here at an older age it really makes him a hard comparison for any american player. Its just completely different circumstances altogether and trying to compare the maturity and leadership of a 27 year old to a 23 year old isn't really kosher.

He could have been better than Harden for like a year or maybe 2... until his legs gave out with his age.

No it's not. One individual can impact the game more on offense than on defense. Especially if it's a perimeter player, since their impact on the game is limited on defense.

Either his efficiency(not necessarily on offense) would go down or he would be injured without adjustment. Hard to say.

No due to his durability. Peakwise he was a better player than current Harden due to his defense. However, his durability was always questionable and playing in international play in the off season instead of resting didn't help.

Before he signed his latest contract with SAS, he came here mid-season to visit Scola. I think he was also asking whether he could get a contract with us.

But that was after another injury and we weren't sure how good he would be post-injury. We didn't sign him of course and SAS gave him that huge contract
