I haven't seen Rafer Alston running a team ie: as the floor general. Most games I have seen him bring the ball up the court and hand it over to Tracy McGrady to make the decissions. He needs to learn the play book and how to execute the same plays with him passing the ball to open shooters. A good playmaker should be able to average 10 assists per game. So far Alston has not shown me that he is a Playmaker Point Guard. Possibly the team coaches are working with him over the summer and we might see him in the new season take over the team and be running the plays on court.

Really ? rafer's 3pt attempt rate is just 35.6 in stead of 44. Besides ,rafer is unlikely to improve himself fast according to his age.
I don't see Alston becoming an allstar but he will do a decent job running the point. Remember Rondo ran the point for a championship team. What I am saying is when you got three stars and decent bench you don't need a allstar PG, just a decent one.
The difference is that Rando is shooting 49%. If Rafer can take care of the ball like that, Rockets would have won the ring.
How can he average 10 ast when no one else could make a shot? Besides with all the ball movement in this offense it'll be quite difficult to average a high number of assists imo
Rondo may shoot 49% but he does not shoot the 3 ball and he is also a poor free throw shooter. Rafers shooting percentage is lower because he attempts alot of 3s. We were not going to win the ring with Yao injured anyway. I don't want to discredit Rondo, he is young and is improving, but right now Alston has more range than him.
thats been my biggest complaint about skip. that dude jacks up way too many 3's. I don't think Rafer has to be anything special this year. just feed the 3 headed monster and not turn the rock over.
