It was started by the owner of Petrol Station, if you've ever been there. They know their stuff

Interesting. I'd eat Indian for every meal if I could, and I like Pondicheri. Indika was awful, though.

    Most of the chain restaurants:

Applebee's: little black curly hair on a salad, never went back
Friday's: I feel like 15 years ago, they were actually decent, but got terrible over time.
Olive Garden: Even their own executives and chefs hate the food.
Chile's: Look, a hamburger is a hamburger...it tastes good, but its the most unhealthy place in the world and if you go away from the basics its going to be terrible.

As for CFS: Does Goodson's in Tomball still make a good one? For years they were "the best in Texas" by Texas Monthly, but I haven't been in 6 or 7 years.

Fusion Taco on Congress in between Travis/Milam.

Went there once and the place smelled like it had been mopped with dirty toilet water. The food was so bland and the texture was basically mush.

    Disgusting.

I feel like I'm in the minority, but of the maybe 5 or 6 times I've gone, I've absolutely hated Panera Bread, and I keep getting dragged back to it.

I had Bombay and Quen Vic recently and they were both pretty good.

Got the Tandoori Paneer Naan from Bombay on Uber Eats.

Where is Quen Vic? A quick google search brings up the Queen Vic pub on Richmond Ave that I've been to.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty much a given that these places all suck. Only time you go to any of them is if you have a gift card.

Wife and I got a couple of Chili's gift cards for Christmas totaling $150 and we decided to use them both up the same day with just the 2 of us because we didn't want to have to go there more than once. With appetizers, entrees, desserts and of course...drinks, we managed to do it (with a $40 tip). Was actually a pretty fun night, come to think of it...

You're not in the minority. Where else can you pay $10 for a ham sandwich and a bag of potato chips?

Not a fan either. My wife keeps getting gift cards there from her work, otherwise I'd never go there.

Not at all. I've tried a bread soup bowl once and pasta on my second and last visit. Quality was a step down from Olive Garden.

I like their pastries though, but I would never consider stepping in there for a meal again.

Yeah no. El Real is awesome.

Vacqueros (formerly El Vacquero) in Missouri City is unimpressive though. And Lopez in Stafford is way overrated.

The one time I had Smash Burger, the burger tasted more like grease than anything else.

    Certainly agree with this

St Arnold is a distant 3rd behind Karbach and 8th Wonder. But the most overrated has gotta be Buffalo Bayou, all of their beer is BAD. One of the worst craft breweries out there imo

I loathe Smashburger. SO much grease and a very bland burger. On the rare occasion I just need a burger and wanna get out it's either Del Frisco's on Kirby or Christians Tailgate in the Heights.

Some truly horrible Indian restaurants being mentioned in here.

Pondicherri is by far the worst POS restaurant in Houston
Kirans is pretty bad and when you factor in the price, it makes it truly horrible
    Indika is just plain bad
Indias is about as average as Indian food can get

Want good solid Indo/Pak food - Savoy, Bundu Khan, Himalaya (horrible service though), Sheik Chili (though not always consistent and cleanliness is definitely 3rd world)

I'm gonna put Reef in Midtown as a horrible restaurant. Didn't have a good experience there.
