Oh my God. That's crazy. A playoff game that wasn't sold out. And they won.. Man...Rockets fans were one of the worst. Well...they didn't bother to go to games. Because no playoffs. Anyways...worst fans... Well I don't know if a fan is bad if he boos all of the opposing players and cheers for his players... And a very bad fan is bad if he throws rats or stinkbombs onto the court. And if they throw stuff at Rasheed Wallace and yell at them. But in baseball..that is OK.
Philadelphia has diehards, but they're jerks. How could they boo Kobe Bryant--who's from a Philadelphia suburb--after he put a great show on for them at the All Star Game?
The Target Center opened in 1990. Based on the way Target Center revenue is handled, an NHL team could not have survived, thus the new arena. In addition, I doubt the NHL would have expanded back into Minnesota without a new arena. Having the 2 separate facilities, makes scheduling easier as well. Both teams will be playing at home on Tuesday.
Why the hell would they cheer for him? Kobe's team just beat Philly's team in the Finals they year before. I would booo the crap out of Rashard Lewis and his mom if his team had just beaten the Rockets in the playoffs. I could care less if he was my next door neighbor.
How about because he came from their city and went on to have great success, and then came back during the time which the league celebrates the sport to have a great performance in front of his hometown? He talked about how he loved coming home and entertaining the fans, and they boo him?--that's classless.
THINK! Fans that went to that All-Star game were mostly from Philly. Most (if not all) of the people there at the game are fans of basketball. Basketball fans + in Philly = Sixers fans! Why would they not boo him? If you heard cheers, then they would be Kobe fans. What exactly IS a Kobe fan?
Sorry, but...the ASG is for fans to enjoy the greatness of the All Stars. Kobe is great, not lovable but destined to wear MJ's mantle of greatness and greatest of all time all the same, and deserves cheers in that setting. Should they boo him if he brings home a Gold?
Man to hell with being classy. If someone beats the Rockets I am booing them. The Philly fans are "Philly" fans first and then basketball. I am glad they booed his arrogant ass.
It wasn't a Sixers game, it was an All Star Game. Kobe came home and entertained his city--shouldn't they feel proud that their city was home to one of the league's most exciting players? Booing the opposing team in a non-exhibition, non-celebratory game is fine, but this was a time for the fans to be purely entertained by the talents of these athletes. Who boos the MVP at the All Star Game anyway? Of course, they did boo Santa. What a bunch of miserable snots...
Ironic, seeing as the Rockets are generally considered one of the classiest organizations in the NBA.
