I've been arguing for a 3 way trade of names for awhile now. NO gets the Jazz name back (obvious reasons), Memphis gets the Hornets name (muddy Mississippi and all) and Utah gets the Grizzlies (Rockie Mountains and all) Makes more sense than the nonsensical names they have now.
How about the time when they wouldn't start the damned clock and they still couldn't beat the Rockets despite having an extra time to try to score. That was a playoff game too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Clock_Incident Not all Mormons are polygamists. They disavowed it in the 1800s and those who practice it are "supposed" to be excommunicated. Some have split off from the church and still do it, but I think a majority of Mormons don't.
I can remember Gene Peterson's ballistic radio call like it was yesterday. One of the refs screamed at him, "You are an a**hole" after the game and it was caught on live radio.
I think it was the first championship year, but we beat them on their home floor by like 30 points, just raining 3's on them with Dream passing out of the doubleteam. They kept doubling and Kenny et al. just kept raining. What was miserable is all the fans, still standing, just watching it get worse and worse and refusing to leave, or cheer... or even to blink their eyes. This still brings a smile to my face.
David Benoit missing open 3 after open 3 in Game 5 of the '95 1st round playoff loss vs. Rockets always stood out to me.
Was that video done by the guy now known as Itsmyfault or the guy still under the BlameTracy? Edit: Found the original post by BlameTracy and repped.
Thank you. That was an incredible crash and burn that let the Rockets make the late comeback and win the decisive game. Only a few of us remember. A Utah home-crowd has never been more disappointed.
Will never forget that game or series. Stockton burns us in game 1. We put up 140 in game 2. They take a 2-1 lead in Houston. Drexler and Dream put up 40 each to tie the series. Game 5 right before halftime Horny goes crazy by nailing 2 threes (one at the buzzer) after we had a lead. Down 12 in the third qtr, it didnt look good, body language and all. Down 7 with 5 minutes left and the Rockets packed the paint and give Benoit the Ron Artest treatment (Or shall I say Artest was given the Benoit treatment?). Dream and Drexler were just relentless on offense and we made most of our free throws down the stretch to take the lead and secure it. Amazing game and great series. Very underrated IMO.
Great "worst moment," KC. A little factoid... Clyde was the 14th pick in his draft, proving that yes, we could get lucky. (or not!)
John Smith, eh? Proof positive that you aren't very familiar with the millions of people that you're dissing.
Big deal, I got the first name wrong, John, Joseph, some pasty, biblical named J. schizophrenic dude. Nice having a personal proof reader tho. Kthx.
