    what ever happened to them? it seemed like they were really famous and then just disappeared without any sort of downfall (though presumably one would have come eventually). did they just decide they had enough money or something?

    I was thinking the same thing. Started to crash a bit before 2001, but clearly spiraling all the way to death has to account for something. Man...she was so HOT in those GUESS? ads...

    Smith's troubles began well before 2000 though. It's a good thought, but her crash was happening for a LONG time.

    The descent was a long free fall, but I would say her death constitutes a crash.

    I think the last season of Curbed would indicate otherwise, especially since he was already kind of under the radar pre-incident.

    Yeah, but she did lose all that weight and was probably in the running for another reality show. I think the orphaned pregnancy, basically killing her kid with meth, then fake-marrying Stern so he wouldn't have to testify against her was a pretty quick death-spiral.
