TMac missing a bunch of games during the season is a big concern, but what's even more troubling is that his back can go out at any time, for any reason. So even if he's playing when the post-season starts, you still can't count on him. If that's the case, he needs to be bought out and retire. Les should just eat that money and get TMac off the cap. And this needs to happen this season, so that this doesn't turn into a Grant Hill thing. If you buy out TMac and Sura, you should have enough cap space to sign Vince Carter or Rashard Lewis. While neither of those guys would be a good as a healthy TMac, both of them are All-Stars who would complement Yao.
How are you going to sit there and advocate trading the best center on the planet as he is entering his prime just so he might have a shot, but not necessarily a better one, at winning a championship somewhere else? I'm sorry but that is simply asinine.
the problem was... Tmac should have never chose to come to the Rox when he did...he just came too soon...suddenly we were a B+ team... tmac comes in we get rid of young talent get the older slower guys in... Rox team was a cellar dweller...and with the draft of Yao...a team that needed to rebuild around Yao... when the Rox drafted Yao...most who watched basketball had to know it usually takes centers 3 or 4 years to mature... thier game to the NBA level... thats 3 or 4 even 5 years I would have watched the Rox lose... knowing they would be getting young talent in return... just look at Chicago now... really in my eyes... if Tmac didnt come over, maybe until now...we could have had some of that young talent that is over there now... got to love Tmac for what he did... problem was we have no talent here besides Tmac and Yao...and ****** bonzi... and no youthful talent in the works... the Rox team has made too many mistakes...from the management down to the coach...I cant see us winning a championship anytime soon... and that sucks, the last time the team I cheered for, who won a title.. was 29 years ago....
I understand why he wanted to trade yao to Lakers. He/she loves yao and really hopes yao can get one or more rings during his limited prime years. However, the question is, is it really possibe for yao to get a ring in Rockets? With tmac's back problem, his big contract, and JVG's coaching skill as well, it seems not.
Why do people throw out uneducated ridiculous trade ideas. We cannot trade a player with a contract the size of Tracy's with a chronic bad back unless we take on another teams player with equal liability. Why would teams be giving up Andrew Bynum and Ray Allen for a player with a bad back and a massive contract. Let's have some decent analysis on here please. gee, maybe we can get Lebron James and Kobe Bryant for him in a 3 team deal...
This is a Houston Rockets forum, not a Yao Ming forum. Yao is staying right here...how many seasons did it take Hakeem to win his championships?
I wonder if we could simply trade for Rashard Lewis right now. Send Head, Novak, V-Span, Snyder, Sura, and a 1st rounder for him, then worry about buying out TMac later. PG: Alston/Lucas III SG: Battier/Wells SF: Lewis/Padgett PF: Hayes/Howard C: Yao/Mutumbo Remember, Rashard is a FA this year, so that hurts his trade value.
I think his career is over. If you're the Rockets, after all that's happened, you need to start thinking about moving on. Even if he comes back for a month or two, you'll never be able to count on the guy. As to Lewis, the guy is an All-Star caliber player in his prime. You're going to have to give up something, regardless of his contract situation.
Oh. why after a loss "trade tmac", "fire jvg" are becoming so reasonable while after a win, it becomes total bs. Don't treate players as commodities. Yes NBA is a business but come on fans should not be so cool. Yao is more expendable than T-MAC from business point of view.
Waste of space. Are you laughing because you think the Rockets wouldn't be offering enough? Or that they're offering too much? Or are you just high?
The problem with that line of thinking is that with Steve and Cuttino we would have been good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to advance, so we'd be in the same situation we're in now. Also, even if we did have a good draft pick we would have traded it for a role player at 50 cents on the dollar.
I hate to flame anyone, but from this statement, it's clear that you have no idea what you're talking about.
Well, the Pollyanna side of me says that TMac will be fine blah blah blah. But he won't. Not completely. But I wonder what team would take him. You could look to the Knicks, I suppose. They're capped out so badly it's ridiculous. TMac's contract would end the same year as LeBron's does in Cleveland (I think), so TMac wouldn't ruin their chances of acquiring LeBron. Not a lot of options, but I hope management has at least entertained the possibility of trading him.
rudy gay would've made a nice replacement for tmac... at this point i tihnk the only thing we can do is put the best team out there that we can and hope for the second round. if we don't make it out of the first round then i want MAJOR changes this summer starting with the coach and ending with tmac, rafer, and howard...
