and I think there is a difference between missing a call. not seeing a penalty etc.. and going out of your way to make some dumb celebration call..

espn made the statement that of course vandy was glad to score, but apparently the refs weren't glad they scored...

when you are the team who isn't supposed to win... are on the road etc.. i think you go for two every time in that situation.. we'd have either won the game or lost by 1.. it's a shame the sec officials felt the need to take that opportunity away from us...

    sorry about the 3rd post..

but bottom line is florida has more talent etc.. so you don't want to have to play in overtime against them.. you want the quick chance to end it all on one play..

we never have the depth that other teams have.. so overtime is not something we want..

but anyways oh well.. we'll get another apology letter from the SEC like the other one from this season...

i just find it very suspicous to go out of your way to call a celebration penalty.. i doubt seriously they would have ever called that on oh say texas in the final minute of a game..

oh.. and just so I don't blame it all on one call.. maybe we should discuss leaks knee being down on 4th and 1 on the td before that :)

This will be a reason they need to get endzone cameras. From the views I saw (they got a better view of in on Sunshine Network down here in FL), it looked like the ball broke the plane just as his knee hit, which is a TD (similar to how a tie goes to the runner in baseball).

Also, with the excessive celebration penalty...something they did not show on TV was that after the small celebration by the WR and subsequent jumping into the arms of the lineman, there was a 5-6 man pileup of Vandy players celebrating the TD in the endzone. I'm not sure if this happened before or after the flag was thrown, but that could be a big factor into why it was thrown. I'm going to record the Sunshine Sports replay of the game on Tuesday and see if they got a shot of it and a shot of when the flag was thrown since ESPN didn't.

And, let's not talk about best WR's being injured, since our top 2 wideouts were out for the game, as was our starting RB.

Overall, I don't think the refs were out to get one team to win since our fans felt like victims of calls during much of regulation. I think it was just a poor officiating effort all around.

    franchise...

I mentioned our wr being injured because.. since he was injured we'd have rather had the chance to go for 2 right there and end it.. not have to play multiple overtimes without our biggest wr threat..

even review doesn't seem to help us.. they even managed to blow a call against us in the UGA game after looking at it on replay.. we got an apology for that..

I just could never see them calling that against one of the "big 6" in the sec.. oh well us winning would have cost the sec millions and each team would have gotten less at the end of the year I suppose.. so other sec teams should be happy

but on the vandy boards we have people from across th e nation oregon duck fans and everywhere registering just because they can't believe the nonsense that happened last night

franchise.. on the leak td.. i think most people had the bigger problem with the fact that it was borderline and they didnt even BOTHER to review it...

if it was that close.. it should have been at least reviewed..

In 1998, in a BC/ND game, Mike Cloud ran up the middle, crossed the goalline by about 8 or 9 inches. The refs said he was down on the one inch line. BC ending up losing.

Replay was conclusive. It should have been a TD. But you have to get used to that when you're rooting for BC against ND.

Also, for all the Baylor Bears whining about the officiating they've faced all year:

karma's a b****. Grant Teaff's last game against Texas was the biggest joke ever. The refs completely robbed what should have been a Texas win.

    I agree 100%. It should've been reviewed.

franchise... good luck to florida the rest of the way...

that chance to go for two. just would have been the biggest play we've had in 20 years or so.. we are making progress, i just badly want a bowl during my senior year... hopefully we'll take care of kentucky and UT

even espn was saying we shoudl be writing letters etc.. after that nonsense call. .. sigh.

How about the the titans wr down by contact at the 2 yard line, and that is the official call after replay, BUT, and I say BUT, they give the interception to the defense. WTF! That is so wrong it isn't even funny.

Thanks. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am that our team has made a bowl game every year I've been here (even though we have lost every single one). Good luck against UT, I'd love to see them continue to slump (especially after having such huge expectations for this season).

I'm not sure that Espn was being the most objective source during that game. They were definitely favoring Vandy/Cutler throughout the telecast. However, I would certainly complain about that group of officials, in general. The called a sloppy game and I wasn't at all impressed by some of the calls they made for/against either team.

If in doubt, just make fun of us for not being as smart as you guys. :D lol

franchise... lol.. the academics are why I don't mind losing that much. The majority of college football players in america, we wouldn't let in.. I like the fact that we are willing to turn away top 10 qbs ( like last year) because of their academics..

Florida is a good academic school though.. So I don't mind them winning.. that and you all don't seem to have 20% grad violations and ncaa violations every year.. or a dozen players arrested every year...

compared to most of the sec.. florida is harvard..

(as for the espn comments... i was speaking about after the game on a college football segment on espn.. a hour or so later.. they had a whole segment about vandy being jipped.. with holtz etc talking about it.)

    20% grad rates I mean...

I'd rather lose than give up academic standards.

Florida may be my 2nd favorite sec team (i'm not sure how big of an accomplishment it is to beat out the other sec schools for that honor though)

no one has mentioned Rockets v. Spurs, last game of the '93 season. Robo's tip in comes clearly after the buzzer, but its ruled good and we lose home court advantage against Seattle. The rest is history.

    Might have been talking backtobacktoback.

Oh yeah, I think I actually did see that segment after the game. I think Holtz has been a good addition - he's been chipping in with a lot of knowledgeable insights lately.

I definitely am proud of the way our team has conducted themselves this year; staying out of the newspapers for negative violations, and you're right - it is getter harder and harder to get into UF (it's definitely nice to be proud of your school and not just a football team that plays for them). I would much rather have a clean program than a winning program that is continuously receiving negative off-the-field press like UT, Miami, FSU, etc, etc.

Looks like it might be you guys vs. UT in the last game of the season battling for a bowl bid. That should be a pretty heated in-state game. Now, if only you guys beat Middle Tennesee St. you'd never be in this predicament  .
