Yeah, I hate when movies try to mix in large amounts of comedy, drama, action, and romance all in one movie. Ugh!
Yeah, I know. But I've never looked at box office results. But I do see the hype surrounding the moving and know what's intended to be a blockbuster.
I never saw it in the theater, though. A crappy blockbuster has to "trick" me into seeing it during its first run to make the top of my list.
Wow, as in wow, I totally agree or I totally disagree? Doesn't matter either way- anyone that says Titanic is the worst movie of all time is just being foolish. Most of it is based on "I'm sick of the hype" or "I can't stand DiCaprio" or something like that. I just can't buy someone going in to see Titanic, without any prior knowledge of it, and saying "Wow, that was a bad movie." Then again, tastes differ dramatically.
Most of the movies on the list I don't have a problem with, but E.T. is one of the greatest movies of all times. The images alone are magical with elliott and the others on bicycles framed by a full moon. The glowing finger, et being dressed up and the kids all trying to hide their discovery from their mother. This movie has a greatness about it, whether you like the manipulation of elliot and et at the end or not. This writer is an idiot.
I'm not sure if the Simpsons Movie qualifies as a blockbuster or not, but I saw it last night and all I can say is, if you haven't seen it, avoid it like the plague. I think I laughed 1 time. I spit on the Simpsons Movie.
bad boys & independence day was good movies to me.... Terrible Movies Ghost Rider- That was $8.00 wasted, I would rather watch an 82-game Rockets season, with Luther Heads starting at PG, that watching that again When a stranger calls- Trashology! The movie should have been titled, "When a theater rips you off" Napoleon Dynamite- Nuff said!..director should be shot The Wicker Man- Take the 12guage shotgun that shot the director of Napoleon Dynamite movie, saw off the barrel, so the bullet can hit him faster before he make so more crap like this Kung Pow- Top 3, all-time garbage..I would pay somebody NOT to watch this....I have never wanted to walk out of a movie that I paid for, but I was tempted...My gal fell asleep, and half the people walked out out the theater... Holy Man- Two words: Mother******* Bull***** Nacho Libre- Honestly, I dont even have words to why the director would make....no seriously though, its like passing the ball to Mutumbo or Chuck Hayes with 2seconds left on the shot clock..."Why would somebody do that"
I don't think Simpsons should qualify as 'Blockbuster'. That being said, I enjoyed it. It wasn't 90s Simpsons, but it was worth the money.
im a simpsons season 1-10 fan, and I expected the whole movie to be unfunny. the first 30 mins to and hour was kinda funny. the rest was garbage
I think if I had to choose my own list, thinking about critic and fan reaction as well as box office results (though some of these were complete duds), budget and and a slight dash of my own opinion...though trying to stay unbiased... In no particular order (remember these are summer blockbusters): 1) Spiderman 3 (still made money, but big dissapointment among a lot of people) 2) T3 (should never have been made, at least without Cameron at the helm, didn't as good as reviews or generate box office success as well it could have) 3) Waterworld (virutally universally panned, a good concept in theory though) 4) Wild Wild West (horrible) 5) Matrix Reloaded (I loved all three, but it's hard to deny that many people were disappointed by the sequel) 6) Hulk (loved this one too, but not many other people did) 7) Pearl Harbor (made money, but trashed by many critics and fans, what disservice this movie was to the source material) 8) Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (lot of hype, great special effects, but dull story and was a dud at the box office...still pretty movie though) 9) Batman and Robin (Joel Schumacher killed the franchise that Nolan has now saved) 10) Godzilla (another movie incredibly hyped but was received very coldly)
I stand corrected. My definition of it was a movie that spends a lot of money to make. According to Websters dictionary, I'm wrong. Oh, and I agree, seasons 2-10 are killer. Nothing, and I mean nothing, tops that show during that era. Homer: Marge, tell Bart I just want to drink a nice glass of syrup like I do every morning
