It's because people here think he doesn't like the Rockets. It's a ridiculous assertion. Hubie Brown is great. As far as game analysts go, Clyde is in rare air with Reggie Miller. At least Drexler is unintentionally funny. Reggie is weak sauce. Mark Jackson is bad as well.
Hot Rod Hundley was TERRIBLE when he called games for the Jazz. Who would be a GREAT analyst? Kobe Bryant........ very opinionated, bright and has no problem being frank and introspective. Vernon Maxwell would also be very good.
I don't mind Hubie Brown. I like when he breaks down plays with basketball terminology that common fans wouldn't know. The worst is Reggie Miller.
Hubie Brown does a very good job of explaining how a coach views the game and plays made. He does favor the underdog and sometimes is long winded.... but he is unique and very good at what he does....... especially to be 108 years old.
I'm surprised so many here don't like Chris Webber. I haven't listened to him a ton, but I think he generally does a good job. Brent Barry is very good; I'm glad he's getting added to more telecasts. As for the worst, I'd probably go with Reggie Miller among the national guys.
I'm not sure why Chris Webber is such a polarizing topic when it comes to analysts. I love hearing him call games, I can't imagine why so many don't like him. My worst analysts list would have to be: 1. Jon Barry- Even though he's a former player, I swear it seems like he doesn't understand basic concepts/rules of basketball. It drives me crazy that someone who made it all the way to the NBA is so horrible at talking basketball. 2. Shaq- Mumbles all the damn time, and always has to be the center of attention. He's quick to dish out jokes, but gets super emo when someone fires back at him. Basketball was easy for Shaq, so he expects too much from other players (Dwight). 3. Mark Jackson- Just can't stand his voice and how dramatic he tries to make everything. Even on the 30 for 30 about Reggie's shot, he acted like it was some historic achievement for all of mankind. He's also a religious hypocrite. 4. Reggie- He just sounds weird and tries so hard to say something cool after a big play or when they're showing a slow motion replay before going to a timeout. He's like the national version of Clyde, sometimes you wanna turn off the TV, other times it's so bad that it's actually funny. Why doesn't Brent Barry get more games? He'd easily be one of the best. Oh, and Hubie Brown is my favorite analyst. I feel like I learn something new every time he calls a game.
I actually like Reggie Miller. I like him more than Hubie Bias ( I mean Brown). I like Mark Jackson and JVG a lot.
The TrailBlazers have a radio guy that I have listened to on satellite radio that always complains about Harden getting calls.
Howcome you guys think Reggie Miller is one of the worst? I'm kind of neutral on him. I don't love him but I don't dislike him either. Just average.
He consistently says useless and blatantly untrue things, as if he's oblivious. For example - the defender gets ball and Reggie yells "all arm!". Two guys make contact under the basket and Reggie yells "THAT WAS A TWO HANDED THROW DOWN. WOW." He goes on long rants about how the hack-a-player rule is great and people just need to man up and hit free throws, or about how Matt Barnes is the consummate teammate and every team should want him. Then he tops that off with a nice dose of stupid comments that make you embarrassed for him. ("The crowd is chanting "ref you suck". Why? Suck what, exactly?") I mean, this is national television.
