In terms of lack of talent and hustle: Roderick Rhodes Carlos Rogers Stanley Roberts Dan Langhi Eddie Griffin
....so many bad players. I'm not quite as old but my list would look something like: Zan Tabak Bryce Drew Vin Baker Eddie Griffin Stromile Swift ...but lots of other receiving votes. I hated watching Chucky Atkins most of all though - as a kid I asked myself, "is there a more clumsy played in the NBA?" He played hard but I always associated him with the old guy who still plays pickup basketball with the kids and always fouls a guy who beats him.
my memory fails me so i'm going to post some recent flops 1. Reece Gaines 2. Stromile Swift 3. Dan Langhi 4. Boki Nachbar 5. Luther Head
Eddie Griffin just died last week. How about we show some respect. He was a good player with a lot of upside when he was a rocket. His off the court problems are what kept him from being a damn good player. Let's just allow this guy to rest in peace.
He actually died a while back..
It wasn't last week, but still I completely agree with you.
He was in no way one of the top 5 worst players in rockets history...
Rudy White Zak Tabak Lee Johnson Reece Gaines Kevin Kunnert Honorable Mention: Paul Mokeski Chuck Nevitt Eldridge Recasner Bill Willoughby Slick Watts Glen Rice Rodrick Rhodes Stanley Roberts All Druggie Team: Lewis Lloyd Mitchell Wiggins John Lucas Sr.
I think we should just say JVG, because he recycled every has been Knick to ever play onto our roster: Mark Jackson Clarence Weatherspoon Rod Strickland Charlie Ward Charles Oakley Rick Brunson Maciej Lampe (drafted by Knicks but not even good enough to play for them) The best thing JVG did for us is teach our team to play defense and that might have actually been Tom Thibadeaux. But I loved him while he was here.
LOL, I forgot all about him... Lewis Lloyd and Mitchell Wiggins, only because they got caught up in the suspensions. When we lost them we were screwed. World B. Free was pretty good just old. What about Purvis Short and his rainbow jumper (Excuse the typos)?
1. Scottie Pippen 2. Kelvin Cato (How many summers did we curse that contract!!!) 3. Glen Rice 4. Maurice Taylor (See Cato, Kelvin) 5. Derek Anderson I base my list off of unfufilled promise and broken dreams. All of these guys had potential to fill major holes or put us over the top. All sucked big time. Special mention for the Dickerson, Drew, and Turckan. CD: Hmm... there's a crazy talented local kid who would kill to play for the Rockets crying in the green room, I forgot his name though..... aw screw it I'll take that Turkish kid who looked tall on those black and white grainy videos I saw.
i used to think eddie griffin was going to be something special but his off the court problems got the best of him
They can believe the earth is square too, doesn't mean they're right. you have to correct people when they are wrong or else everyone is wrong. then EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG On top of that Barkley, one of the top players on the team agreed to the MINIMUM SALARY so the ROCKETS can sign another player (Pippen.. the MAX DEAL). This act of UNSELFISHNESS has NO EQUAL. Would TMAC or YAO play for 1 million dollars so we can sign a Kevin Garnett?? HELLL NO
Can we please ban zcity. Granville Waiters is the greatest Rocket of all times. Among the great things about him is the fact that at the time the picture was taken he was probably about 24 or 25 years old. Look at how great that picture is, and then think about your life and where it went wrong.
For the most part, the players I see listed on this thread as the worst players to ever wear a Rockets uniform are either players who were talented, had potential, but wound up being underachieving and disappointing. They are also players who failed to provide the club what it needed most from them. I would consider five of the benchwarmers who played on that 1982-83 squad the worst players to ever wear a Rockets uniform mainly because they wern't all that talented to start with, and that team compiled its worst record in franchise history at 14-68. On a Philadelphia 76ers fan forum, if there was anyone who started a thread just like this one, I would also consider five of the benchwarmers on that team's 1972-73 squad the worst players to ever wear a 76ers uniform since that team compiled a 9-73 record, which was the worst ever in league history.
The worst Rocket ever has got to be Buck freakin Johnson. I hated that guy with a passion. Sure, Pippen rubbed us the wrong way. But Buck was the worst for sure. I hated more than I ever hated pippen.
