I don't cheer for them but Bullard makes it nearly impossible to determine if the right call is being drawn except for when its flops. Anytime a foul is called on the Rockets it's always some excuse of why that wasn't a foul. Or how they don't call it at the other end.

The guy needs to commentate on the players and the plays. Not how bad a referee is. Any commentator can bash a ref.

I'm with the OP. I love this board and its enthusiam for our team, but the last thing I want to hear when watching the game is the f-ing Clutchfans Game Thread in stereo commetating it. Bill and Bull need to find some modicum of objectivity.

It would be interesting to have some random black guys commentate a game.

Exactly. There were a number of times in the Mavs game were Bullard applauded the refs for flops, no calls, and calls that went the Mavs way.

Yes, it's getting very annoying. If I wanted that kind of commentary I would go to my friend's place. Bullard feels the need to get all mad and worked up. Just chill out and do your job. And stop trying so hard with the corny jokes, too.

    Bill is the best though.

I like Bullard. When he's on I don't have to listen to Clyde.

Well, if the officials are doing a bad job, why not? Most of the time, when they complain, they have a legitimate reason. Bullard even agrees with the refs at times when our own players flops. He's not a complete homer, he knows how the game should be officiated.

He is a BIG homer. That's the whole point. How can you expect him NOT to be homer. Bullard, between his Rockets career and his broadcasting has been a Rocket for a good, long time. Sometimes I wonder if people even knew he played for the Rockets. Talk about Bullard whining over foul calls, but look at all of you in here being big, fat hypocrites. Most of you would bag on Clutch's mom if you were given the opportunity. Ease up on the moaning.

Personally, I kind of agree with the OP. It's not so much whether you agree with the calls or not. But rather how much Bullard tends to emphasize it. You don't have to criticize or applaud the refs after every call. You can talk about other things too.

The game of basketball is best viewed when there's absolutely no mentioning of the refs. Because then you just get worked up for nothing and then start focusing on them rather than the game itself. Sure, given the many problems of officiating in the NBA, it's almost impossible to reach this perfect state. But there's no reason for commentators to aggravate the problem if they don't have to.

I like Bullard....he is just continuing a long line of homerism, from Murphy forward.

On the other hand, Clyde is a complete buffoon. I forget who it was, but AB clearly got 100% of someone's hand when he stripped the ball last night (replay plainly showed it) but Clyde still commented the ref made the call because he anticipated the foul. When you add in Clyde's 15-20 "Cap'n Obvious" comments during the game, it makes my head hurt. I mouth the words "Please shut up Clyde" numerous time during games. Sometimes his basic math comments contradict each other. During the same game he'll say "you can't let so-and-so have that jumper" and then later on "you can't get too close to him or he'll go right by you to the basket". AAAAGGHH!

Bullard isn't great, but he's much easier for me to take than Clyde, who is completely worthless. Bull does need to chill on the officiating because it's tiresome.

If you have a surround sound system, mute the center channel speaker, and the announcers are no more.

I really don't have a problem with Bull, and Bill.

The days of objective newscasting, sports play-by-play, and color commentating are long gone. I'm okay with that. Long live Air Bull!

I agree that they are good commentators, but they do complain about foul calls too much. 1 complaint a game is ok, 35 is not.

I'm getting pretty tired of Worrell. It seems like at least once a game he'll say, "Rockets can take the last shot. There's a difference of five seconds between the shot clock and the game clock."

If there's five seconds left after the shot clock, how the hell do the Rockets get to take the last shot? He's going senile or something.

I'm not really bothered by Bullard calling out the refs as much as he does.
