So true, the Dodgers and the Yankees seem to be in the world series every year. I can't believe how many championships the damn Dodgers have been winning every year. And those Yankees, every year they have the MVP and the HR leader and the BA leader. Why can't the guys hitting all the home runs play for smaller markets like Frisco and StL? :p

Hey DVauthrin you can kiss my fat ass you little biyatch! I am not a baseball fan anyways but I like watching the Yankees. No reason to hate on me cause your ****ed up Asstros are the biggest bunch of chokers in the sports world. Or how you dum ass A's player cant figure out how to slide to the damn home plate. The reason I kind of like the Yankees is because of their history.

The Yankees are just taking advantage of the opportunities given to them. I never said baseball was in good shape you freakin moron. And I am sure the Yankees and the entire world wont get any sleep because the great DVAUTHRIN refuses to acknowledge the success of the Yankees. :rolleyes

If I was a complete bandwagoner I would not be bragging about the fact that I am Cowboy fan you dolt! So I enjoy watching the Yankees play. I am sorry your damn Socks and Astros and Braves or whatever crappy team you all cheer for SUCK! The Yankees just know how to win. Guys like Posada, Soriano, Oniell know how to take their game to a new level in the postseason. While chokers like Bagwell and Biggio cower like a bunch of freakin p*****s when faced with Maddux and Glavine.

Go take a damn chill pill and stop getting mad at me. I dont see anything wrong with being a casual Yankee fan. I challenge anyone over here to prove they are a bigger Rockets fan then me. Bandwagoner my ass. I might have said that jokingly. Yes I do like the Yankees because they win. I am not a baseball fan like I said, but I am just getting into it. Who do you expect me to cheer for you dumb ass?!?!?!

i respect you for being a cowboys fan during these times, but your tiradish response to me was quite childish, i mean calling me curse words and all, really hurts my feelings  . I dont change allegiances because my team struggles in the postseason its an achievement just to make it,yes its annoying but ill tell you something else, the yankees didnt deserve to play seattle in the alcs, oakland did, they beat themselves. Im just curious whats so appealing about the yankees i guess, plus its hard for me to fathom a baseball bandwagoner bashing a true diehard fan. I personally like seeing new blood in the postseason yr in and out, but thats just me. I just wish baseball would look in the mirror and see how their revenue system is screwed up.

Now hydra, SF isnt a large market, please they may have to let bonds walk because of payroll and st. louis i dont see them spending large sums of cash each season in fa(only on occasion). As for the yankees, i concede they use their money wisely, but give me a break if you can name many teams in baseball who you see sign or trade for stud, huge contracts yr in and out let me know, the red sox really dont although they can, the one ill concede is LA but thats 2 teams. The prob i have is in 2 yrs when florida has to sign stud talent like floyd, beckett, dempster etc a bunch of iut will end up in ny.

Thats what bothers me about ny, they do have good talent evaluators but no team should be able to maintain an 120 mil payroll with bottom teams at 20-30 mil.

Excellent points, D, about the Yankee payroll system.

You want an example of how unfair it is for all the other teams to compete with the Yankees from a payroll point of view?

Several years ago, the Red Sox signed Bernie Williams to an offer sheet. I can't remember how much it was or how long, but it was a big offer. The Yankees waited around and finally upped the offer. The Yankees new offer was so high, that there was no way that any team except maybe the Dodgers could have matched it!

Let's see...I wonder how many World Series titles the damn Yankees would have won with someone else in centerfield besides Bernie Baseball?

Here are some opening day payrolls, courtesy of ESPN:

    1. Yankees $109,791,893
    2. Red Sox $109,558,908
    3. Dodgers $108,980,952

There are plenty of teams that have cause to voice their concerns about the payroll disparity in baseball. The Red Sox, whose payroll is virtually identical to the Yankees, aren't one of them. Didn't the Sox take advantage of the Expos' cash woes in order to get Pedro? To an extent, they did the same obtaining Everett from the Astros, who were trying to cut salary. They also bought Manny Ramirez this offseason. Pot, meet kettle.

You Yankee haters are pathetic! The Oakland A's beat themselves? I guess the defense of Jeter might have something to do with that but hey

Guess what Yankees did beat A's and they deserved to play the Mariners. They beat the hell out of the Mariners to reach the world series again.

I never said the Yankees dont have an advantage over other teams, but the way some of you all refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments of the Yankees is pathetic.

    A's beat themselves

Theres the spirit. I have no problem with that. Blind hatred for NY! Atleast he is not taking away from what the Yankees have done in the past with bogus claims like how they didnt even deserve to play the Mariners.

I hate the Lakers, but I am not going to claim how it is a big market team with help from the refs that achieved em the titles. (thats The Cats job :) )

    Sam,
That's true, but I don't think that you understood what I meant. I can't remember if it was 2 or 3 years ago, but Boston's offer to Bernie Williams was significant. The Yankees matched it and then some. As a matter of fact, no other team could come close to matching it. That's what I was talking about. The Red SOx current payroll was helped by the fact that Duquette raised ticket prices plus a lot of Ramirez's salary in the later years of his contract is deferred money. So, those figures, although true, are misleading. I wish I could find a link, but I know when he was re-signed the Red Sox still could not match the Yankees' offer. Hell, no one could. Call it the pot calling the kettle black, but the Yankees would do everything they could to keep him, even if that meant giving him an A-Rod type contract.

lets see oakland took a 2-0 lead, had won 17 straight coming into the series at the coliseum, theres no one in baseball who wouldve predicted that outcome

    Game 3

Jeremy Giambi-didnt slide in to home, jeter made a good play but he wouldve been safe tie game, who knows

Game 4- an error by menechino opened the floodgates on lidle, plus they lost their cleanup man in dye a huge bat for them

Game 5- Mulder threw away a pickoff throw allowing a run to score after oakland took the lead

These are mainly mental errors not lack of talent or facing a superior team

Money can buy a lot of things, but it doesn't buy the ability to lay off Randy Johnson's slider.
