Jamie Gold dominated the final table. A very Raymer-esque performance, he knocked all but one of the other final table members out and won basically every race situation.
You know, it's funny. I almost always root for the underdog in most situations. For some reason it's not that way in poker though. I like the pros better when I watch tournaments on tv, and I don't know why. I don't know where I was going with this, is anybody else the same way?
yes i completely agree... because if an underdog amateur wins, then we start thinking about how that could be us! in sports, we don't think like that because of our lack of skill level!

I was genuinely upset when Scotty Nguyen busted out so close to the final table. I've met Scotty in person and he was a really classy guy that took the time to talk with me for a few minutes and take a picture with me. For those that don't know, Scotty's wife is Cherokee. I am a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and our casinos sponsor Scotty Nguyen. I met him when he was playing in a small buy-in tournament at one of the casinos that I was playing at. Here's the pic:
Sweet SirCharlesFan, 11th place for Scotty ($476,926 payout)in a group of 6,358 in this 2007 WSOP is not a bad tournament at all...
Why did less people play in the main event this year? I'm guessing the slow death of internet poker ...
Thanks for the link. I saw the standings yesterday and thought it could be Jerry Yang of Yahoo. It's not, for anyone wondering. I never watched poker like this, it's actually much more entertaining. You don't see the hole cards, and it just feels more dramatic and in person. I'll co-sign rooting for pros too. When I watch, it feels like a pro will have to fight against all odds (just because you're a pro doesn't mean you get to skip tables). But when some no-name makes it you can chalk it up to running really good and having the luckiest tournament of your life.
Got to use it in Internet Explorer I think if you were trying Firefox before... or maybe download Windows Media player if you do not have it already ...and then the live video should hopefully work. Just try a few different things cause it works well for most IE users.
b/c the government's involvement in trying to shut down online poker. they've stopped you from using CCs and neteller to deposit which is convenient. so this in turn discourages new people from playing. then the ripple effect is less players.
Game over. I won't ruin the results for anyone trying to catch this on rerun or something. Just google it, it's easy to find.
i also read somewhere that the wsop is no longer accepting the entrants who qualify via online satellite tourneys (fallout from the safe port act nonsense)...apparently a large contingent of players qualify for the wsop every yr by that route, and not so many people are willing to pay the full 10k buyin
