Final round to qualify for Brazil 2014 starts on Wednesday. 6 teams (USA, Panama, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Honduras, and mexico) will fight for 3 auto qualifier spots, with 4th place having to play a home-and-away against the winner of Oceania. Full Schedule US @ Honduras will kick things off on Wednesday at 3 pm Central on beIN SPORT (?) US calls in 24 for first game Honduras roster (includes Oscar Boniek García) My predictions for the final standings... 1. mexico 2. USA 3. Honduras 4. Costa Rica 5. Panama 6. Jamaica
Mexico: I would suspect that for the Mexicans vs. Jamaica: - Talavera - - Moreno - Masa Rodriguez - Reyes - Torres Nilo - - Aquino - Salcido - Fabian - Guardado - - Chicharito - Peralta - I'm scared of sticking with Masa Rodriguez in the middle of that defense, but I think Diego Reyes is solid. Jamaica: I expect Jermaine Taylor to pester the Mexican forwards.
My guess for the US starting lineup... - Howard - - Chandler - Cameron - Bocanegra - Fabian Johnson - - Dempsey - Bradley - Edu - Jones - Torres - Altidore - I'm assuming they continue to go with 5 mids...though with Dempsey staying forward. I'm never crazy about Jermaine Jones but he's likely to do less damage than Kyle Beckerman would (who's shockingly left out of this team). Altidore already has 20 goals this season. Just hoping that he can continue that pace with the national team. If Tim Chandler gets a cap in this (or any other WCQ) game, it will lock him to the US.
Corona is going to start instead of Talavera, Talavera is the 3rd GK of the team. And his nickname is "Maza" not "Masa"
I'm really looking forward to the Mexico/Jamaica match this Wednesday, not necessarily because I think it's going to be a competitive match, but because Jamaica completely overhauled the roster as a reaction to a bad performance in the Caribbean cup. They brought in a ton of English players with Jamaican heritage that have never been capped. If nothing else, I think it has a chance to be a disorganized mess, which is sometimes more fun than a well-played match.
Looks like a top 15 team for World Cup. 1.Spain 2.Germany 3.Argentina 4.Brazil 5.Portugal 6.Italy 7. Netherlands 8. England 9. France 10-14. Belgium/Colombia/Uruguay/Mexico/Russia 15. USA???
Japan and Korea are right up there with the U.S. Both had a decent run at the Olympics and looked super organized. I'd also add one of the African teams, perhaps, Ivory Coast, who looks intriguing.
Swoly, do you actually watch Mexico play?!?!? Your lineup is wack!!!! Moreno is not a full back he is a central. He will play alongside "Maza." Either Meza or Aguilar will play RB. Corona will start at GK. Also I am sure that Gio and Herrera will start, especially Gio.
It really effs it all up when Chepo wants Salcido in midfield but then Torres Nilo gets to start. I remember that for the Copa Oro final, Salcido got hurt and Torres Nilo came in to restore order that was failing and caused the first two goals. For the Jamaica game and recently, this means that it will be Salcido feeding Guardado on the left and then alternating with Chicharito as a lone striker... but... man, yes, you are right, the line up is weird. I'd like to see it like that, though, even if whack.
why is USA not playing on ESPN tomorrow but Germany vs Franco and Mexico vs Denmark are? wtf is bein sport?
I just noticed it on my Time Warner lineup but I apparently don't have access to it as I don't have the sports package.

I've got Bein sports because I have the sports package with Xfinity. Great channel, catch a lot of quality games there. Especially La Liga games.
