But what about the Alvarez HR edits that are set to the Titanic theme… the moneyball score… and the fake-outs where you think you’re going to watch the Yankees win and it cuts to the Alvarez HR??
I genuinely can't beleive we have fans crying and whinning about the WBC. Grow a pair folks injuries happen. Let's root for expanding baseball
Yeah, I’m not one of those. While I don’t like the timing of when it’s played as it deals with injuries and how players are getting prepared for a really long season… I am very impressed with the overall interest (both by fans and the players) and I am surprised how much the interest has exponentially grown since the last wbc. If it’s no longer a cute “gimmick”, they need to ensure it’s woven into the fabric of the MLB season in a way that protects both interests.
Read Mexican newspapers and they're going crazy about the WBC. It's doing such great things for the sport. I love it https://youtube.com/shorts/_GgTr9Otmn8?feature=share
The biggest issue is that the MLB season is such a bear that there is no better option. If having more than 4-5 days off for the all star break didn't effect hitters timing and pitching stamina so badly then a 2 week break at mid-season to have the WBC would be great. But that is a problem so won't work. Besides that extends the World Series into mid-November. At some point, I think the regular season needs to be cut back to 142-154 games but neither owners nor players want to give up money that the games bring in. Maybe play 48 games then take a week off. WBC rd 1 is played and teams have 3-4 exhibition games for players not involved. Then 48 more games. Then another week to finish the WBC and have more scheduled exhibitions to keep players timing up. Then 48 games to finish the season. Just brain storming.
The last I heard was indefinitely, whatever the **** that translates into. But had initially heard 8-10 weeks.
Definitely not the year. He has a fractured thumb and will need surgery in a few days after some swelling has gone down. Bryce Harper missed 2 months (52 games) with the same injury last year. The Astros have said they will release a time frame prognosis after surgery. I would expect him on rehab mid May- early June and back in Astros lineup June 1st- 15th.
Tucker out of today's game with shin soreness. Kinda feels like Saving Private Ryan. Brother goes down so keeping him safe
The swelling in the thumb needs to go down in order for them to do surgery. Once they get in there, Houston will have a better time frame. Late May or early June is what I'm mentally preparing for.
Who is saying out for the year? indefinitely simply means they’re not going to assigns set timetable till after the surgery. Certainly things can always be different (ie a Harper thumb fracture isn’t necessarily the same as this one), but a lot of things will have to go wrong (including possible infection issues or healing complications) for him to be out for the year.
They’ll have to figure out something. If they shorten the season, the owners will have to somehow be compensated for that lost revenue (which could possibly be shared based on the MLB profits off the tournament). Or simply commit to playing in domed stadiums any time within December, January or February… but not sure how pitchers will hold up in those months.
