nah bro, you did right by staying professional. Something that bothers you might not be so bothersome to someone else. Besides what if he says something to your old boss about you not liking certain aspects of the position? That kind of info could make its way to your current boss. Leave it alone, you did good
Cool, thanks everyone. After reading this thread, I think I handled it perfectly. Like others have said, he could end up really liking the position. I did tell him it was a great way to get your name out there in the company and that's exactly how I got my new position - which is true. He's coming from a behind-the-scenes type job and this new position is nothing like that. Spend a year networking, and then when you're ready in a year or so, start using your connections to move up. When we talk again next week, I'll continue to keep it positive and professional.
I'm a blabbermouth after work, but dealing with people i don't have a footing with, i start as diplomatic as possible. Tell him it was a great opportunity that challenges you to get out of your comfort zone. He could very well see it like you do over time but people don't normally resent an optimist... Your acquaintance is a big boy. I like that you're looking out, and as long as you tried to help, don't beat yourself up to much over another mans decisions
