There was a thread about shakers on another forum that I frequent, and someone posted the turbo shaker. A couple other people vouched for it so it seems like a popular choice. Its only 5 bucks.
Hm, thanks. Anyone here use it? I think I'll order it. But just wondering, does not mixing it well, i.e. shake still has chunks in it, make the shake any less effective?
This isn't directed at you, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when people ask about "taking" protein as if it's some special concoction to give you a boost. Your body needs protein to build muscle after you've broken it down in the gym. You can get it in the form of food, but people get their intake through shakes simply for convenience - it's hard to get in enough solely through food if you're looking for big mass gains. Yes, you need protein. Again, not to come off as an ass, but if you're even asking this question, I wouldn't worry about building up too much bulk. If you're trying to build up, they recommend 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight and 3 grams of carbohydrates per pound of bodyweight. Obviously you're not going to be needing all that based on your goals so eat healthy and get in a decent amount to help your muscles recover.
the magic bullet is an awesome machine. i mix one banana, 1 scoop of protein powder, cup of milk, and ice every morning. takes about 30 seconds to make.
i always get gassy if i consume too much protein and dont lift enough. the excess gives you the protein farts for sure also, never take things like cytogainer or musclemilk if you're not at a very ideal body fat percentage.. otherwise you're going to get plump unless you totally bust your ass in the gym.. n.o. explode is ok, more creatine than i'd like.. but for a vascularity pump enhancer its great.. lots of similar things out there that cost way less though
exactly. i have protein powder every day and occasionally a myoplex when i'm in a hurry, but it's out of pure convenience and price consideration that i have either. ultimately all of these powders are just liquid food which is not at all better than the real thing. if i had unlimited money to spend on food, protein powders would quickly be gone.
Another vote for the Magic Bullet. I use it for my protien shake every morning. Kind of pricey, but you can use it for so many different things that it's really worth it.
I use ON vanilla ice cream...i'm getting sick of protein drinks. any suggestions to spice them up?? i use it with milk and a banana.
Strawberries? Peaches? Blueberries? Does ON make a plain (no flavor) protein mix? I dig peanut butter / banana protein smoothies.
What kind of flavors do you like? I've mixed cherries, pineapple, peanut butter, strawberries, bananas, and coffee in mine (not all at the same time).
i like anything...do you know any protein shakes recipes that i could use? i'm not sure if ON makes plain protein mix. protein shakes with peanut butter/banana? is that all? hmm i might will try that!
Ice and milk/water. Smoothie Factory makes one called the Peanutbutter Powerhouse and it is goooooooooood!
ON does make plain protein mix, but it is expensive. It goes by the name of ANY WHEY. I tried it out once before, but I would rather eat a couple chicken breasts than pay 19 bucks for 2 lbs of unflavored protein. I don't know if any other companies out there that make this kind of protein. I would certainly buy some if it was the same price or cheaper than the deals we get on regular protein. I was goofing around in the craigslist forums and someone posted that the amazon deal was through the end of the month, and it also applies to BSN and CytoSport products. http://www.proteindeals.com sums up the breakdown nicely. It looks like the same version of the deal is floating around everywhere on the net, lol.
I made protein shakes of ON vanilla ice cream, banana, peanut butter, a teaspoon of flax oil, ice and water(ran out of milk) this morning. I was expecting it to taste bad but it wasn't that bad. Maybe it would taste better with milk.
