I am not exactly sure how much your order has to be in order for you to use the $20 off coupon, but for the protein it will be: $74.99 - $20 = $54.99. Make sure you change the option to "FREE Super Saver Shipping" because they have another option set as the default during checkout.
I recently bought some frozen mahi mahi filets from CostCo. I checked the package and these things have 21g of protein per filet. Is it me or does that seem like a ton of protein? That's 1 serving. A can of tuna (2.5 servings) has only around 13g.
That sounds about right. Also, the 13g of protein is for each serving of tuna. So with 2.5 servings, thats 32.5g of protein in a can. Fish has TONS of protein.
What are your thoughts on Splenda (aka sucralose) and the other sugar substitutes which have been reported to be the cause of all sorts of health problems?
This post makes me nervous since I eat tuna just about everyday. I don't quite understand the unlucky comment though. Any additional info would be appreciated.
there was a fitness board i used to frequent... canned tuna was/is a cheap and popular source of protein. anyhow one poster got sick, long story short, his doctor told him he had mercury poisoning which he suspected was from the tuna. then there's also daphne zuniga's much publicised story.
if i want to just tone up and not necessarily build up too much bulk, should i be taking protein. I work out about 4-5 day/week doing about 45min of weight training and 30 min of cardio.
CytoSport Muscle Milk works well & tastes pretty good too. www.bodybuilding.com has good prices on supplements.
I have 100% Whey but man that stuff give me gas and use it maybe 3 times a week...It's taste good and reminds me of Swiss Miss hot chocolate...I usually blend it with bananas and milk, sometimes with non fat yogart...mmmm...I also take multivitamins and fish oil pills... I remember someone recommended Animal Pak and I had to take that crap back...That stunk up my entire office one day...
This is extremely rare. Just make sure you are eating chunk lite tuna in water and you will be fine. It is one of my main protein sources.
Reports about Splenda too now? I wasn't really aware of that. My family has a history of diabetes, so I try not to consume any sugars if I can help it. I guess Splenda might be the lesser of two evils for me. I'll have my wifey do some research on it for me, as I am pretty lazy.
Any kind of protein will give you horrible gas, but mine ended up going away after the first couple months. As far as the tuna goes, just eat it in moderation. There are calculators on the internet that tell you how much you should eat based on your given weight. I usually eat about 2 to 3 cans per week. I think it is essential to be taking in adequate amounts of protein (1-1.5g/lb bodyweight) for anyone who is looking to put on some muscle.
Fish oils are a good source in omega-3 fats, which have been shown in studies to reduce inflammation.
Anyone use Designer Whey? I've been using it for a while. Tastes okay but the cholesterol is pretty high, apparently. It takes forEVER to get the powder to completely dissolve in whole milk. I've never used a blender and I just can't see myself washing a blender 3 times a day. How do yall manage to take in so much protein in one day? It's so much of a hassle.
If washing a blender is such a hassle, wouldn't also going to the gym and lifting heavy weight be even more of a hassle? If you want to get ripped, you must wash the blender! Nothing in this life comes easy.
