I agree. But it'd be something though. I think something like this is what Morey or whatever his name is could be thinking about. I mean, if these guys can contribute a decent amount, then why not? It's not going to be expensive to keep 3 mid-1st rounders. I mean, it's a LOT better than doing how we've been going on excavation projects for our old FAs the past couple of years

JVG would go ape having to find PT for 3 1st round picks. Besides, this isn't the draft to add 3 guarrenteed contracts.

Well, it's really not that bad. First round picks are now 2 years guaranteed with 2 more years at a team option. Here are the salaries associated with the most likely picks the Rockets could end up with, according to the rumors/ideas floating around on the board...

    8: $1.80 mil

    10: 1.57 mil

    12: 1.42 mil

    15: 1.22 mil

    23: $847,000

So, if we were to add 3 of those contracts, the worst case scenario is that we get locked into 3 guys for 2 years at a grand total of 4.79 mil. It's not exactly an albatros, and if one of them doesn't work out they can always be thrown into a trade. Teams love to get young cheap guys as throw-ins.

Simmons has worked himself into being a lotto pick for sure. he draws comparisons to ratliff but has a solid jumper out to about the college 3. he is also quick enough to guard SF's on the perimeter.

this guy might be a better fit at PF than anyone in the draft.

the same goes for Johnson. they both have very similar games, except simmons is much farther along.

But they also take up roster spots.

There are 15 spots on the Roster, expect at least FIVE new players this offseason. Two Rookies from the Draft and three YOUNG Veterans ( 23-28yrs of age), via trades and/or Free Agency.
We need :- Point Guard, Shooting Guards, Backup Small Forward, Power Forward and Backup Center.(It might take a couple of offseasons)!
This means No more Bowan, Wesley,Swift, Howard. Mutombo should retire and coach for a season especially if we find a suitable replacement this offseason.

You mean those precious roster spots that we've been giving to Bowen, Ward, Baker, Lampe, Brunson, Frahm, Glover, Lucas, Graham, Davis, Strickland, Oakley, Barrett etc the past couple of years.
