You're correct... no sprinting if you don't want more muscle in your legs. There's only so much you will be able to do to thin them, but aerobic jogs should get you to your best possible outcome. The target range is not an exact number. You don't have to stay right on it (that would be a pain). Make sure you drink fluid as needed including electrolyte replenishment. Empty stomach beforehand is fine. Your body will burn more fat. Note that your weightlifting results won't be optimized but you're overall goal is to burn fat. I never recommended skipping meals. In fact, 6 small healthy meals instead of 3 big ones will help your body avoid going into 'fat storage' mode. I like amino pills, and yes you can eat (wisely) right after exercise. Remember that you body is pumping blood to the muscles. A heavy meal is not only counter to your goals, your body will not appreciate it right after working out. You will burn out your glycogen on the weights and any simple carbs you injest w/i about 15-20 mins after exercise will go straight to your liver to replenish your store. Interestingly, the concentration of carbs determines how fast your body will abosrb the drink. Once a sports drink reaches a certain carb/sugar amount(which I don't recall offhand), your body decides it has to digest it instead of absorbing it quickly as if it were water. It'll help out on your next workout. So take a good sports drink right away. The aminos a little later (maybe only 10-15 mins), then go ahead and eat. The 6 small meals should all include some protein so your nitrogen levels remain elevated as your body repairs and grows muscle. (fwiw...between the morning exercise, aminos, and caffeine in the hydroxycut you may notice much improved mental acuity in the mornings) The hydroxycut is fine, but remember that the caffeine in it can cause low blood sugar w/i a few hours causing food cravings and also signals the body to store fat. If you're not going to do 6 meals, atleast plan an extra, healthy snack 2-3 hours after breakfast. Excessive soreness results from damage to the muscles during and after exercise. The damage can be reduced by taking antioxidant supplements to reduce the free radicals. Not a necessity, but I find them very helpful. If you're not too sore, don't worry about them. Good Luck!
Whao thanks for all the insight from everyone is there a substitute to running? cuz i would run if there is nothing else Okay this may sound stupid, but i have heard alot of people say skipping ropes can acheive the same affect?? if so how long and how many reps? thanks
If you dont have access to a gym skipping rope is awsome. Works many muscles, burns calories, and helps your dance moves as you become more swift footed over time. If you do have a gym memebership the Stairmaster is awsome. The best!!!!! Make sure it's the one that simulates actual stairs though. Helps endurance, tones butt, tones quads, and suprisingly increases your rep endurance\strength on Squats and Lunges. It's gonna be killer at first but be patient.
Definitely. Your core and lower back want to be even, so if you work to strengthen one side such as the abs, your lower back will be uneven thus causing lower back problems. I've just started doing some exercises for my lower back a few weeks back, from the advice of my conditioning teacher.
I dont know for sure, but i'd assume crunches are more effective. Mainly because you are working more muscles in the full range of motion. As well as, you might want to do oblique twists. I like getting a medicine ball, having someone stand on my toes, put their hands out while I take the ball above my head and come up and touch the persons hands. Have the person move their hands side to side to work all areas.
I don't have anything to add to any of the suggestions but this has been a real educational thread. I had a six pack at one point but as I've been getting older I've lost it and wouldn't mind getting it back. The problem I got is that for almost all of my life my exercise training was all for competitive advantage and also got a lot of exercise from competitive sports. Now that injuries have taken a toll on those things I got a lot harder time just working out for health or better body shape.
