Best time to run/cardio if your trying to loose wieght is in the morning before breakfast. Burns more fat than in the afternoon. If you wanna make muscular gains than eat something non-greasy or processed 1-3hrs before working out. Make sure that you got some protien and clean carbs in the meal. I had a trainer from One 2 One on richmond a few summer ago and he gave me this advice. Very sound.
Not really true, because when you start exerting your muscles right after you eat, your blood supply is concentrating on those muscles and not to your stomach. So your food is still in your stomach not being digested while you are doing some physical activity. That is why after a meal if you exert yourself too much you throw up and also why you shouldnt swim right after a meal.
I won't work out unless I get 7-9 hours of sleep. Then, I eat a turkey or chicken sandwich for lunch. A few hours will go by, then I'll have a Detour/U-Turn/OneWay/Tri-O-Plex (any of those bars with names like that) - they are the best protein bars you can get. They all have 30g of protein in them, and that's as much as I've ever seen. They don't taste bad either. That's all I really need before a workout. Those things will fill you up, believe me. I'm also gonna start using this stuff called Nitrix. It's got nothing to do with a meal, but it gets you better results.
j/w, how many of u guys talkin about working out are actually fit? I'm pretty slim, but not built so my advice should go to the crapper.
Doesn't really work that way. Science is science. Facts are facts. What people do with said knowledge is another matter...
right now a Fruit Cup, a Sandwich is working ok. Trying not to eat anything heavy until afterwards I think I should wait maybe 30~45 Minutes Now I am trying to build a regiment I can live with Rocket River
Basically, even if you go to failure, you won't get sore if you work out regularly. The soreness just comes when the muscles aren't used to something. Correlating muscle growth (hypertrophy) with soreness is one of the biggest beginners' misnomers. If you want to gain mass, keep the reps in the 6-10 range, focus on compound exercises (bench, deadlift, squat - stay away from the p***y machines), and eat eat eat. You might not feel it in your muscles, but you'll see it.
Whey Protein shake before and after working out. Usually work out about 3-4 hours after lunch which usually consists of a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat or grilled chicken with stir fried rice bean sprouts and eggs. I never realized how routine my lunch is though. Yeesh do I eat anything else? Ohyeah sometimes a chicken salad sandwich on wheat with some lite yogurt and a hard boiled egg.
Crackers and a few nuts and hour or so before a workout. May throw in a banana in there occasionally depending if I have mixed a banana into my weight gainer shake already throughout the day.
In addition to Whey protein like others have mentioned I'd reccomend supplementing with creatine. I took cell tech by muscletech and gained around 10 pounds of muscle in a month and half by lifting and eating right.
