bigboi, if you're interested in a fitness career there are several organizations whose certifications will take you far. AFAA, ACSM, ACE, BSMI, NCSF, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, NFPT.. just google them. Depending on who you work for your pay scale will be affected by what and how many certs you have.. Ballys, LA fitness, Lifetime, 24, etc all have different requirements.
kiki, i work with a couple volleyball players and some of the drills i do with them would easily translate to basketball players. you want to work on explosive leg exercises for maximum verticals and lateral quickness as well as stability training and core strength for maximum agility.
i always recommend after. but its a personal preference. me personally? i can't hardly do my lift routine if i've just ran for 45 minutes..
awesome question ive been meaning to start a thread about this for a while now some of my favorites: gonna fly now - bill conti go faster - black crowes train in vain - the clash green light girl - doyle bramhall ii little less conversation - jxl/elvis nice guys finish last - green day desire - u2 run around - jason radford getting away with murder - papa roach
Cool. I have the three main Rocky songs "Gonna Fly Now," "Hearts on Fire," and " Eye of the Tiger." I have some odd songs, maybe, for running. "On the Table" - AC Newman "Sailed On" - Landon Pigg "Better" - Regina Spektor "Juicebox" - The Strokes "Take Five" - Dave Brubeck "Y Control" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Phantom Limb" - The Shins "Landed" - Ben Folds "Like Spinning Plates" - Radiohead I have a lot of Coldplay and a few from Fiona Apple, The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and Gavin Degraw. Lately, one of the only songs I use when I sprint is Cake's "The Distance." I never liked that song until I saw that Adrian Peterson video on youtube.
donny most, i recently started running around 3 miles a day. Should i keep this up to try to lose weight? Im eating healthy. Do u recommend me to lift weights? i dont need to tone my body, i dont have excessive fat or anything. i think i should just lose a couple pounds and i'll be okay, what do u think?
what about supplements? creatine, protein shakes & bars, fat burners n' stuff. There's so many on the market it's hard to find what works for you without dropping $$$. I did find that this place has decent deals on stuff. usually half of what you'd pay at GNC or places like that. http://www.cheapvitamins.com/
what's wrong with a little muscle? contrary to what people believe, you're not gonna bulk up by just lifting weights unless you start taking in excess calories. if you maintain your current diet, run your 3 miles, and lift, you're gonna shed fat. you may not necessarily lose weight b/c you're adding muscle but that's a good thing. you'll notice it in your pant size decreasing.
Hey Donny, how do I get the blond on the stairmaster next to me to notice me? She's hot, I want to touch the heiney.
sounds good, i just want to get back how i was , i used to be 180 back when i graduated from HS, i played ball thats why i was in shape, but not anymore
basically. i find heart rate monitors kind of frivolous and silly. you should be able to tell at what capacity/intensity you're running. if not then you'll find out quickly. one thing about heart rate monitors, the "fat burn zone" is a total myth. what that means is that the overall number of calories you're burning is less, but the percentage of fat calories you're burning is greater. let me explain in the "fat burn zone" you might burn 8 calories a minute 60 percent of those calories may be fat in the "cardio training" zone you may burn 12 calories a minute but 50 percent of those calories may be fat 60 percent of 8 = 3.2 fat calories 50 percent times 12 = 6 fat calories higher percentage of fat calories in the fat burn zone, but a lower overall net for calories burned
If you're sitting all day you're hamstring will be tight not loose. The hamstrings and hip-flexors are in flexion when you're sitting. Thats why students and office-workers(almost everyone) have tight hamstrings. Cyclists typically have really tight hip-flexors(iliopsoas mostly) because they are hunched over for hours on their bikes.
