As did I with "often." I'll admit I was wrong about "inflammable." I'd expect the same for the silent "t" in often. Again, I can provide plenty of links for those who need them.

I'm with Fatty on the pronunciation of often. Every English and oral communication teacher/professor I have had has said that the t is silent and a college professor said dictionaries listed it that way until recently (1970/1980s). As for the comeback that we pronounce the t in oft as proof does not work. We say our clothes are soft (with the t) but we do not soff TEN (soften) our clothes.

He's not the first. I'm amazed at how pissed some people get on here and take stuff so personally. He did it as soon as he joined. I guess I should be flattered that I can bring up such emotions in a person I don't give a rat's ass one way or the other about. I even had to report his sig. It origially said "fatty fat dumbass." I'm assuming his days are numbered. He behaves like a ticking time bomb. Quite silly, really.
