    DanL,
So, by your theory, would you be ok with the Rockets players going out all night if they had a playoff game the following night? I think most people would rather have stevie and cat have a good nights rest. My point is simple: Every game from here on out is of utmost importance. If they want to make it to the playoffs, they must treat each game up to that point like it is a playoff game.

I think they should have taken a tip from Patrick Ewing and saved their energy for one of the full-service strip clubs in Atlanta.

Okay, that does it. I have a question for heterosexual BBS guys.

Explain something to me, as I've never been to strip club. Does it feel slightly gay-ish to be sitting in a bar with a hundred or so guys getting aroused? Forget the nude women for a second; isn't it a little bizarre to get all eroto-communal with a bunch of other boys in a strip bar? I seriously don't get it. This may be an inapproriate forum, actually, but strip bars have always struck me as very homoerotic-ish. Which is fine, but, it seems odd that going to strip clubs is seen as some sort of heterosexuality barometer to some folks. To me, the 'me and the boys' angle can not be ignored.

As for ballplayers going to strip clubs, I think they oughta be embarassed, just because it seems a little desperate and lame, forget the good-night-sleep angle. Cuttino and Franchise still have to pay for anything of that ilk? PLEASE.

This one loser who used to work near me -- massive, massive credit card debt, bad fake laugh, no redeemeing personal or professional traits to my eyes -- loved strip clubs, and I could see why. BECAUSE HE HAD TO PAY MONEY TO SEE NAKED WOMEN.

Problem is, his strip-club running buddy was Mookie Blaylock. They knew all the spots. I mean, Mook was a player on the Bay Area's CBA team, and he was hanging around with this guy with the fake laugh? Whatever.

Come on, backcourt, feel free to go to a movie, nice restaurant, dance club or Lambada class. Strip clubs? Leave them to internet geeks.

Does it even matter if the Rockets do any good the rest of the season? Let the Rocks tank some more games so they can get some more ping pong balls so David Stern and Russ Granik can rig the Lottery so the Rockets can get the second or third pick in the draft.

The NBA would never rig it so that the Rockets get a good pick.

CBFC is right about the "me and the boys" phenomenon. The guy is physically into the woman he's watching but gets his feelings of esteem from being in the presence of the other guys. The Gold Club situation is even more convoluted.

Let's start the pool right here as to whether jshabang is a party girl, a gay man, or a straight man posing as a woman. I nominate outlaw to analyze of his/her posts. My money's on #2.

That's cold, Will. Maybe true, but cold. :)

As a person who has been to strip clubs in the past, I don't go anymore because I realized how anti-female they are.

For that matter, we should all stop drinking Bud Lite or Heineken because of the repeated, and not-at-all subliminal messages in their advertising that men should choose beer over women. How many commercials have you seen where women are ignored, hit their head, fall off cliffs in a port-o-can, slam into each other at a concert, etc while the males guard, purchase, fight over, or consume beer? It's a disgrace.

I seriously like beer, but I've switched brands. Now, back to the subject of titty bars. :)

Yeah, I don't know why I've never been really excited about going to a club where I can pay a crack w**** with 5 kids who's "going to school" when I can get all that and more at home from a woman I know for a fact doesn't have herpes, and will come dance for me even if I don't have a wad of singles in my fist.

No no no no, I know, no no, don't get me wrong, I am not saying there is anything vaguely gay-ish about sitting in a room with a bunch of other aroused men. I mean, how could anyone possibly infer that there is any shred of latent/blatant homoeroticism in an activity in which a bunch of grown men sit next to each other making awkward conversation as they become sexually aroused.

I don't mean to make light of the vibrant and robust heterosexual cavorting that goes on in strip clubs. It represents a full 9/10ths of the US economy, and God knows we can't take another hit My question -- I repeat -- is this: How can one ignore the "me and the boys" angle of sitting in a strip club?

The thing is, maybe folks who frequent strip clubs have feelings that they do not totally understand. That is why we are here to help. To help people understand their feelings. Do not be afraid.

Where do you think most of these althletes go to meet women? They know that if they go to a strip club in a town where they aren't famous they will still get their pick of the litter because the stip club manager will make sure of it. If Steve and Cuttino go out to a regular club in Philly they will be a couple of rich guys trying to get laid. If they go to a strip club, they will definately get some. It is just easier.

Where is Steve's on the court lack of maturity?

The guy didn't argue the bogus T-fouls from the Utah game, he's been getting fewer Techs in general, makes better decisions this year than last year with the ball. There were times when Steve could have gone off because of some of the officiating, but being the mature player that he is, he just took it, and continues to work on his game.

Spending $500 an hour to keep the compaq center open and practice seems like a mature and dedicated step for someone trying to improve.

I know this is supposed to be a basketball forum...but I cant help but comment on the strip club thing. I have been to them...mostly with a group of guys...although I have also been to them with women. I hadnt ever really even thought about the fact that these other men in there are aroused as much as I am by naked females (heck I even think that a few of the girls were) No...call me selfish, but I was more interested in watching the dancers...talking with them...and possibly becoming slightly aroused myself. I would have never considered it being a "gay" activity...and really never thought you would find many gay guys to be in attendance. (I thought you probably have to go to la'bares for that...and I must confess I never have) Now that CBFC has got me thinking...I have realized that he must be right...through my lust for women I am unkowingly surpressing my gayness. Now the shocking thing is...this happens at Rockets games as well! I usually take one of my many male friends to the games (I have more male friends than females...possibly another correlation?)...and you wouldnt believe how many times where me and my friend were sitting there and both noticed a pretty girl walk by or maybe we discussed which power dancer was our favorite. Every male I know must obviously be gay. I guess now I know why I like the Rockets so much...and dont really care for the Comets...I am totally gay! Nothing like watching ten sweaty men bumping and rubbing each other. They must be gay for doing it, hell I guess we must all be gay for paying to watch them. Now that whole Cuttino-Steve thing makes even more sense....thanks for bringing me out of the closet CBFC!

Back to the original topic, my guess is that Steve's poor shooting night stemmed more from having migranes so bad that he couldn't see the backboard than from being tired from the night before. I bet he was able to sleep in, anyway. Did they have a shoot-around that morning?

You guys are very strange. Strip Bars are good, safe form of entertainment. Heck, if you have ever hung out with an NBA player you would know that MOST women act like strippers when they see them anyway.

For someone who has never been to a strip club, you seem to have a pretty strong opinion as to what they are like. Where are you getting this from? Hearsay? TV? Your imagination?

I haven't been to one either, but I don't pretend to know what the experience is all about (mood, etc..) without having tried it.
