uhhh... if it was roy jones jr fouling wood, pretty sure wood would have no chance of finishing the shot, even if roy jones jr is 50 yrs old and in the wrong sport.

Everyone is talking about his post d but I think he played pretty well off the ball help d. He was able to stay in front of their guards when he got switched.

Right. Nurk bullied him in the post but Nurk is a really big dude. Wood looked pretty comfortable when he got caught on switches. McCollum hit a couple of ridiculous 3's in his face, but Wood contested those very well and those ordinarily would have been low percentage shots. Same with that reverse layup Dame scored on him late. Really nice contest by Wood and Dame didn't blow by him. Dame just made a ridiculous shot.

He's going to struggle straight up guarding people like Jokic, AD, and Embiid in the post. But there's a skill set there to work with to have a good team defense with him on the floor.

No matter what happens... today I will be toasting to the addition of C.Wood

how did every other team miss on him? 13 per year? Surprised a bidding war didn’t break out based on last night and his preseason along with the sample size last year

    wow. Cheers!

Honestly it wasn’t just Nurkic often times it was RoCo and Jones guarding him.. and/or double teaming him

most shocking thing is that Harden said Wood made him better???? And that “we have a chance”

I’m speaking to his defense. He is slow laterally for a guy that slim and his feet are clunky. He can improve that.

His offensive game I have no issue with. Best hands on a big man Harden has ever had.

As good as Wood looks, he hasn’t played a ton of NBA minutes. Which means ALL aspects of his game should improve with more experience which includes defensive anticipation. The guy is just exciting to watch because you can see him getting better and better.

Is Chuck Hayes still around? Hakeem helped Clint out as a consultant.

I have no doubt CW will improve defensively mainly because the dude has that heart and passion to be great.

He already called the MIP award for himself. I love that.

Hartenstein could have done the same if only MDA gave him the chance.

The best thing is his swagger man, dude knows he’s good, he knows he’s skilled and belongs in the NBA and probably has more talent than most big men in the NBA. He got his contract and now is determined to prove he’s a star. I hope we get to witness it for years to come in Hou - exciting young player to cheer for.

    KAT says hello?

I think his defense now is average and can get better once everyone meshes.

I think his perimeter D was top notch he had some good stops on Dame.

Wood really does look like this offensively...the floaters, the lobs, the midrange, ability to hit the three...handling the ball

    it’s all there

His skillset and soft hands are extraordinary - Harden made some HORRIBLE passes to him into pressure that he handled and finished.....that is amazing.
