Thats why I was surprised KPJ's rumored to be seeking just over MLE money ($10M/per). to me that's very reasonable. he gets big usage and box score numbers on the worst team in the league, so its hard to determine if he's really a building block on a contending team or a 6th man. you can't go wrong paying him as a 6th man and hoping his value exceeds his salary during the course of that contract.
Wood blows. People get so enamored with his occasional good offensive game, and they forget all the other negative things he does on a nightly basis. 1. Terrible defense 2. Mental midget 3. Horrendous shot selection 4. Ball stopper 5. No post presence for his size 6. Bad locker room guy 7. bad rebounder for his size 8 . Insists on bringing the ball up the floor like a guard 9. Horrible passer, prone to awful turnovers 10. Flexes after dunks when the team is down 25 (See mental midget) Who cares if he can get hot from three every once and awhile, he's the king of empty numbers on a bad team.
Depending on who we draft KPJ may be completely expendable after next season. I would let him go to RFA and match if it's something like 2/12 or 3/20, otherwise I'd let him walk. If he get no offers in FA I'd offer something like 2/10 as a 6th man. He's yet to show he can go a full season without locker room drama, and his on court play has been wildly inconsistent.
inconsistent on court play comes with the territory given his age, learning a new role, the age/inconsistency of his teammates, and the questionable coaching. however, I agree with the rest. he's expendable if we find a higher tier prospect at the same position (ivey) or even a similar tier prospect at the same position (#17) just to restart the clock on the rookie contract so to speak. I hope the rockets don't just to extend him this summer since I'd rather see how he improves next year and if he can accept being a 2nd or even 3rd option behind jalen and maybe alpy too.
I actually agree. He's a very good player. He's just not a defensive anchor, he is not a center. He's playing there because he can finish plays, can rebound, has good size and length, but he has no defensive education as a rim protector. He has played all his life as a wing.... you can call him soft and whatever you want but is just not his fault not to be a natural center. IMO, the biggest mistake of Silas this season is not to start Sengun next to Wood. They are complementary offensively AND defensively. Nonsense how little time we've seen them together. Having said that, If we get Smith or Chet, who are going to be better defenders than Wood, makes no sense keeping him. A change to a more competitive team could benefit him also. Maybe you put him on a more competitive team with better habits and plays more physical and aggressive. Must be said against him that having been in the league for years he should be stronger (and what I say stronger I don't necessarily mean much bigger) and should have developed a low post game.
I am so glad to find so many supporters of Wood. We neeto to keep him if he will go for a reaso You should be ashamed of yourself, you have used the image of Yao Ming , is he your special player? Your views about Wood our present starting Center sound like lies to me ! He has been our best player for two seasons I would expect if you are a real Houston Rockets Fan that you should apologies for such terrible remarks . I have watched every Rockets game and I think if he isnt too expensive in his new contract he will prove his continued strengths on our team Y
Wonder if the Spurs would entertain Wood/17 for 8? We could grab a building block like Mathurin or Duren there.
what do you feel is a reasonable contract for him? would you offer him 4/40? 4/60? 4/80? 4/100? what's the max you'd go?
i think the most you'd get a pick after 25 or 2 2nds, i think most people have realized at this point what he is, it's why it sucks so much he wasn't traded before this past season when you could still have fooled someone

Are you in favor of trading Wood, or risk him walking in FA next season? I recall you predicting the playin tournament last year, is that what you expect this year? I think we are still bottom 5 or 6 teams next season and would trade Wood for best offer asap.
