Seriously though, have we ever had a 4 that could handle the rock and take someone off the dribble like wood?
Lol @ the AD comp. Dude is horrible on the defensive end. AD is a beast on that side of the ball. The only thing they have in common is they are both tall and skinnish although AD not so much.
I’m sorry, but no he doesn’t. Akeem/Hakeem played amazing defense. Great natural instincts and the fire to be great. Wood can obviously improve and I expect him to. He just doesn’t have that type of potential. I do think he’s going to be damn good from here on out. I’d take average on D at this point.
Very different players. Dreams footwork and defense are unparalleled. Wood has a soft touch around the rim and range out to 3. I think Garnett is his absolute ceiling.
Barkley. For that 1 season he was fit. Artest could as well but different moves.n Horry could as well
Hakeem was the initiator of offense and his 25 points cane on double and triple teams and not on open 3s created by others (which wood gets ) or open lobs. Loving how he is playing but it should be illegal to compare anyone to dream on here.
Hakeem was the perfect mix of skills, speed or quickness, and power. Athletes like that coming around every e50 years if not longer. Meanwhile I am glad we got Christian Wood.
Partially skewed by possessions as 90s and 80s basketball was slower and had fewer possessions, ie less opportunity to score more than 25. Also Dream didn’t shoot many threes so his points came harder.
What I'm seeing is a guy with a skill mix like Brandon Ingram's. It will be interesting to see how their careers proceed in parallel; they are comparable in age as well IIRC. That being said I would be thankful for 60% of KG out of either.
Sayin' it don't make it so. Reality...will likely never be another Dream. Not for the Rockets, not anywhere, not ever. Which isn't to say that Wood might be really really good. When he gets his first 10 block game, though, then we can talk.
If you're gonna start with comparing Wood to Dream, you are GOING to be disappointed. Can't we just be happy for the guy and enjoy watching him develop?
