As an Aussie I'd love to see Lauren Jackson take on some of the so called 'men' in the NBA.

    exactly!!!

If you think the refs are giving super star calls, imagine how they would really help out the women. Damn...imagine all the tick tack fouls. Its like just jump into people then a foul would be called. The game would be damn boring.

lol...the players would have to change their defensive stance to ensure they cover all the 'balls' that are bouncing up and down lol... ;)

Damn it, guys. David Stern tries to find a PC plausable reason to allow the WNBA to fold and you a-holes can't even go along with the plan for 5 seconds. We'll neve get rid of the "We Got Next" league at this rate...

When this happens the numbers the players will use are going to be 2/3 5/10 etc.

LOL this would never happen. First off, where the hell would you find women who can compete with men? IIRC the WNBA stars will get schooled by the defending college team, you think they will stand a chance against nba players?

Secondly, even if by some miracle a girl good enough to compete with the guys shows up (say LBJ's daugther), all the players will protest because how are they going to play defense against a girl? Will KG get still get down on all fours? I don't think so :p

What about the reverse? If a woman is backing it in with her booty like Barkley used to do. Does any man really want to stop the woman from backing it up?

Exactly. It has to go both ways.

And no, it will never happen. The first time a woman gets her shot thrown 20 rows into the bleachers or get run over on the fast break there would be controversy.

Why does it have to go both ways??? Any d-league or division 2 player would probably be a star in the WBNA, why would that sell any tickets. On the other hand if a woman could make the cut and get on the floor on a regular basis in the NBA, it would be spectacular.

The best woman maaaaybe can get a spot as the 15th player on a 10- day contract pickup on the worst team in the league. I dont think that's enough of an exception to make it a revolutionary effort.

A woman's chance is at the guard position. As a ball handler who just brings the ball up court and hit spot up jumpers. Where they might have a low base and enough quickness to keep pace. Like Dawn Staley, a girl with legit handles, court vision, quickness and maybe shooting ability. Where they're matched up against an Aaron Brooks type. The taller front court women will never work. Not enough strength, explosion, and foot speed.

Or maybe a taller woman with guard skills, like a bland 38 year old Brent Barry type. But can recently retired Brent Barry play in the WNBA? You betcha. I bet some of their 55 year old coaches like Bill Laimbeer can suit up in the WNBA and make an All Star team just off brute strength.
