OK, hypothetically, she loses this fight. She has to remove the covering and takes the driver's license photo. She's driving down the road one day, gets pulled over for speeding, and has the cover on......the officer asks her to remove it so he can ID her. Obviously she will have a problem with this...... What then? (Just wanted to throw a stick in the spokes)
again...it goes to identification....driving is a PRIVILEGE..not a right. That is well-defined in the law. Do you think you'd get away with being able to cover your face if the police were trying to identify you briefly??? Same principle...this regulation wasn't created to screw people who have beliefs about covering their face...it applies evenly to all people. It's not specifically targeting someone.
I know Mad Max.....I was only throwing some lighter fluid on you guys. I actually am agreeable to your point of view here. Just wanted to see if the flame could rise a little higher. No worries!
No one has a RIGHT to drive, it is not a RIGHT, it is a privelidge. We live in a democracy, and religion does not protect you from having to follow the law. Sorry, take off the veil, or grab a seat on the good ole bus !! DaDakota
Like others have said, it's not about religion, it's about common sense. Obscuring your face defeats the entire purpose of a Photo ID.
This could never happen. The Catholic wouldn't have time to go to the Ash Wednesday service because they'd be spending all day standing in line at the DPS.
In the words of my father, "Driving is not a right, it is a god-damned necessity!" Anyone wonder what driver's licenses in Muslim countries look like? Or do they not issue licenses to women?
All we really need now are Ex criminals wearing these veils for coverup on their driver licenses. They'll do exactly what this lady is doing and it'll mess up the whole criminal system. It's a photo ID. I don't see clowns dressing in their work costumes taking their license photo's in their makeup now do we. The clowns may think it's a right and a religish belief of the higher clown god but its not right. But even for me, I was asked to take off my hat while getting my license photo taken. I told them it was a religish belief of mine, but they forced it off me. No big deal. Maybe I don't care about the small things in life and I go on with it unlike this lady who can't do one small thing and take her veil off. Maybe she wants attention.
