You probably at least have to be enrolled to do that. It sounds like she dropped out altogether. If she'd gone to college, she might have been smarter about it. A sister of a friend of mine didn't want to tell her parents she dropped out of med school, married a white guy (asian), and started her own business. So, when the parents came to visit, she took them on a tour of the hospital where she supposedly was doing her residency.

In the 80s and 90s, for whatever reason, my dad's go-to joke whenever he'd have to drop something off for me or pick me up early from school (usually I walked) was to ask a friend of mine or just some random kid if he wanted him to call in a bomb threat so school would be out that day. I even remember him yelling, "don't worry kids, I'm calling in a bomb threat, you'll be out by lunch" at a bus once. Obviously we're a estranged, now. Still, 9/11 ruined EVERYTHING. These are quality jokes.
My "friend" while growing up overseas often had family members who would call up the airport with a bomb threat if they were running late for their plane. Obviously before 9/11.
