Probably not as bad of a team as people think. Kirlenko was huge loss for them though.

Yes, Splitter just signed a 4yr / 36M contract with the Spurs.

The Wolves are a classic example of spending money to be mediocre. Morey must be looking at their offseason and just cringing.

Morey would have waited to let the "market" dictate Pek's contract. It might have been close to that 12M/per but there is a solid chance it would have come in at 10M/per. Why not let the market dictate. That's restricted free agency.

Let's say Rubio and Pecovic miss 30 games between them.

Rubio, Martin, Budinger, Love, Pekovic might just be the worst defensive lineup in basketball. The offense will be fun to watch, but they're really nothing more than a potential 7th/8th seed.

I do not disagree. There were a few posters who said they miss the playoffs again, but i think they will make it if healthy. You act like your saying something unique.

Pek isn't a superstar by any stretch, but he's good at what he does: Off/Def Rebounding, and setting a hard pick. Grinding with him in the paint gradually wears down the opposing team's bigs.

He's not worth $12 mill, but it's something to think about, when a good coach (Adelman) knows how to maximize his crappy players strengths.

seems like the Wolves are bidding against themselves, dumb not to let another team make an offer and just match it

Also on Wednesday, Yahoo! Sports reported the Wolves were getting closer to a four-year, $50 million deal to sign Pekovic, but I'm told by a source with knowledge of the negotiations tonight that the Wolves are no closer to a deal and still are waiting to hear back on an offer they made last Friday.

This guy who said minnesota will finish in the top 5 wins my troll of the year award. Really the west standings you envision are.....

    1.OKC
    2.LA Clippers
    3.Houston Rockets
    4.San Antonio Spurs
    5.Minnesota Timberwolves
    6.Golden State Warriors
    7.Memphis Grizzlies
    8.Denver/Utah/Lakers/Mavs/Blazers/Hornets

I personally see Minnesota as a 10-12 seed out west....and that is being generous

So many posters are being too tough on that poster.

He said that if Minny remains completely healthy but some other team's health isn't so great, Minny might have a chance to creep up in the standings to 5th, or end up as low as 10th.

Y'all hate just to hate, seriously.

    That was then

Harden and Dwight 50 times better than Martin and Love.
They are still fighting for that 8th spot barring injuries. Nuggs, Pelicans, Portland, Jazz and Mavs are fighting for that spot.

We'll see about the Lakers, Kings

With that said Asik is underpaid. But now we got Howard. it seems like the right number.

But adelman hasn't been doing that with pekovic. I watched the wolves a lot last year. And I got really frustrated with how badly adelman used pekovic. Even when pekovic was on fire the wolves usually went away from him and let ridnour, Rubio and. Others take contested fadaways after an ISO.

Pekovic is one of the best centers and he really is unstoppable when he gets the ball in the low post. ofcourse his defense isn't that good, but on offense he is a beast.

The difference between Asik and the rest of those guys is that we signed Asik as a relatively unknown commodity. The rest of those teams signed their guys as an inknown commodity after they already performed. Imagine if Asik was a free agent this summer coming off the year he had as opposed to last summer. He'd easily get 12M as well and maybe more but at least 10M bare minimum. That's a huge win for us thanks to Morey.
