KMart has been so bad on D for so long on some many RA teams... He may not even play for the NEW coach OR just be firepower of the bench at best ( CLee is the real deal and is coach's dream )...
We should trade KMart NOW... last season is as go as it gets for him as a Rocket... The Rockets are no longer a "good fit" for him... Paired with the "right players" on the "right team" with the "right coach" he may do just fine...

IF we could get a top 8 pick ( in this draft ) for him as the centerpeice of a trade we will have done well...

DM the GM get what you can ( Sell high on this one don't waste any time at all )

Hmm. Dont know that we could offer them something interesting besides Scola or Martin. Seems like they might be into Martin but are you willing to move Kevin Martin in order to draft Derreck Williams is the question?

Personally I'd be willing to move Kevin Martin in order to draft Enas Kanter.

SamAmicoFSO: Pacers are ones making seriously play for No. 2. Granger is being mentioned. So are Rubio and Beasley. Again, more later on FOX.

I was thinking less of a "trump" and more of a 3-way where we could get Granger

I'm not as high on DWill as others, but tbh, the potential to be real good is there. Has great quickness, very good athlete, and has a nice touch out to the perimeter. I worry that he might be a tweener, but if he improves on his ball handling, he could play both positions at an equally effective level.

I'd rather make a move for the Cavs pick at #4. I think Kanter should still be available there (looks like the Jazz are looking more towards Knight), and I feel we'd be giving up a bit less than we'd have to give up to trump the Pacers at #2.

If they are trying to move into the top 3, I think the top 3 teams will know the Rockets are targetting Kanter. If they know that they are not going to tip their hand. If you are willing to gamble on losing him if they pick him you can wait and do the trade to 4 after the first 3 selections if he's still there.

If they really want to assure they get him they'll have to go for the t-wolves pick. Hell I'm not sure its a given the Cavs don't pick him #1. In such a sucky draft where no one is a clear super-stud team's are more likely to go for a center over other positions.

If the 2nd pick is not there i would stand pat on trading martin. This draft is not worth trading martin for anything less than a top 3 pick.

Morey drafts best player available, not by need.

Unfortunately I think it may be our only option. We don't have the assets to outbid Indi, and I doubt the Jazz are looking to move down (it's possible they choose to move down to ~5-7 if only to draft their top choice in Knight whilst picking up an extra asset or two, but there's no way they'd be looking to move all the way down to 14). Also, Kanter is currently more of a 4-5, and Utah is stacked at the PF position while a PG for the future is more of a position of need. So, I guess that leaves us with that #4 pick being our only real path to Kanter.

Now I'd be fine with trading up into the 7-9 range to pick-up either Biyombo or Vesley, but that's another topic entirely.

I'll have to trust Morey on this one. I wouldn't trade Martin for the 2 guys I have seen play, Williams and Irving. I think Martin could be the missing link for somebody at the trade deadline next year. From the looks of it a late lottery pick next year might be better than a top pick this year. If Morey thinks Kanter is worth Martin, than I say go for it. Morey seems to be a very good talent evaluator.

If I was to guess I bet Morey tries to move something to move a little higher with our 2nd pick in the first round and get Montiejunus.

You may be right on that one unless Indy is demanding more in return than the 2nd pick and the Wolves balk on Beasly and/or Rubio.

Rubio and Beasley + #2 Pick Available?

Sam Amico is reporting that the Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves are discussing a potential trade for the second overall selection in the NBA Draft.

Amico mentions Danny Granger, Ricky Rubio and Michael Beasley as some of the players being discussed between the two teams, so clearly these two teams are looking to make a major deal. If David Kahn deals the second overall pick and gives up Rubio and Beasley in the same trade, he better receive a haul of talent in return or he's going to face some serious backlash from the fans.

I know this is not related to us but who would you be willing to give up for Rubio, Beasley, and the #2 pick whom you think the Wolves (Kaaaaahn!) would be more interested in than Danny Granger?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. The more I think about it the more I feel the Wolves could be more inclined to take an offer of the #14 + Martin --> #2 + Beasly + Webster, over the Pacers offer as they'd get to hang on to Rubio. Not to mention Martin had a better overall year than Granger.
