http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2011/news/story?id=6603100 Looks like Cleveland is in discussions for the #2 pick. I think we could do better than this deal.
I don't think so. Getting the number 4 and 8 pick for a number 2 sounds good to me. Hopefully we can get in on this, but I don't see us doing that...
Yeah, the t wolves would do that deal, the real question is, would they keep those 4th and 8th pick, when they said that they were looking for veteran help. PeAcE
Caution: Coming from HW [rquoter]The #2 Is In Play: Despite denials from the Minnesota Timberwolves, the #2 overall pick in June 23rd NBA Draft is very much in play. The Houston Rockets also have eyes on the #2 pick and Arizona forward Derrick Williams. The Rockets hold the #14 and the #23 and seem open to combining those picks, however Minnesota is said to want a veteran player for their troubles and Houston is not there yet on moving a roster piece to move up, but they are said to be in the running should Minnesota decide to deal. The Rockets have made it clear they will address their gap at small forward in the first round, so if you are mocking out the draft at home pencil in a small forward at #14. [/rquoter]
Ohms told me that these guys are considered the Twin Towers of Greek basketball and are two-hundred and twenty times better than Ralph and Hakeem.
Even though that is from PoopsWorld, that is some GREAT news! Derrick Williams for say 14-23 and Courtney Lee, would get me PUMPED!
I would prefer to hold on to the 23rd but if they really want it I would trow it in there in a heart beat.
Odds are that the Rockets will NOT be selecting at #14 when it's all said and done. Besides, the ideal range for "non-top-10" SFs will be somewhere in the 16-25 range. For instance, the latest DraftExpress mock draft has the Rockets taking both Jordan Hamilton at #14 and Tyler Honeycutt at #23, two of the top SF prospects outside the top 10. I fully expect Daryl Morey to be in "2008 NBA Draft form" on June 23. While his picks were ultimately not stellar (Donte Greene, Joey Dorsey), the actual DEALS he made, in and of themselves, were pretty darn good. (1) Trade #25 pick to Portland for #27 and #33 picks. (2) Trade #27 pick to Memphis for #28 pick and 2009 second round pick. Sure, looking back, most people would rather have had Batum; but those trades actually set the stage for the acquisition of Ron Artest and the Rockets FINALLY getting out of the first round of the playoffs. If Morey can pull off similarly styled deals with, say, the #23 pick, I'll be pretty pleased. Here's also hoping that, barring a trade up in the draft (which Daryl himself says is very difficult to accomplish, but not for lack of trying), he can "take a prospect hostage" at #14 that teams drafting right after the Rockets (i.e., Pacers, Sixers, Knicks) desperately want and can extract additional value from them. Hurry up, June 23, and get here already!
It makes sense for Minny, as they don't need Williams at the number 2 spot.....and they pick up an extra high pick. I know Khan gets a lot of grief, but I like a lot of what he is doing. DD
Indeed it was a great deal I just hope he does a better job at drafting this time (Dorsey)for the whole thing to be a grand slam.
Not really that just means the front office has more input on coaching and full control of..... EVERYTHING.
