Barcelona superstars Juan Carlos Navarro and Terrence Morris... Do you guys remember Alan Anderson of the DLeague? How about Clips reject Boniface Ndong?
Considering that Bob McAdoo, George Gervin, Dominique Wilkins, Arvydas Sabonis, etc. played in Euroleague and never averaged even 30 a game....yeah, I am sure that Kevin Martin could average a 100. Especially since in the Euroleague hip checks are legal, moving picks and screens are legal, hand checks are legal and Martin would probably be the weakest player in the entire league. BTW, it's called Euroleague, not "Euro league", and Barca beat the Lakers 92-88, and they played their worst game of probably the last 3 years and still won. <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rBey3WLwc5c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/XRmhciyJW7s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Rockets would not even win a single game against Barca in a 7 game series.
Overall OHMSS I appreciate your posts, but I think you are currently in the cups, as they say. I know you love the Your-O-League , but, as others are pointing out, it is filled with people who couldn't make it in the NBA. Also, when Gervin, McAdoo, Wilkins and etc played in the Gyro-League they were washed up shells of themselves and were no longer able to dominate the NBA as they once did, so they went to the UrO-League as a step down in competition -- which you of course know, you apparently just get a little angry when your drunk (like most Euros). I have to say though, I would love if the NBA adopted those tougher rule changes. All those whistles is the worst thing about the NBA. Why assemble the greatest basketball players in the world and then cramp them with a bunch of rules.
Something else should be pointed out here: One of the things that came out during the Adelman situation was that Morey had offered a huge deal to the Timberwolves for Rubio the year he was drafted -- and was turned down. I am sure someone can find the link, but basically Morey told Adelman something like "We may only win 30 games next year, but this guy can win us a championship". So, considering, we have to think that Morey tried to cash in all his "assets" for Rubio. Wow. As good as Morey has been at finding serviceable players late in the draft and through small trades, do we trust him with a high first round pick? I mean, the people we have been made to understand that he has tried to trade up for in the past are Rubio and Cousins. Can you imagine this team right now if its primary foundational players were Rubio or Cousins. The only reason any of us still see Morey as a genius is because the psychotic Khaaaaaan told him no on a trade that would have gutted this roster for Ricky freaking Rubio -- who Dragic is better than (a great Morey pick up by the way).
Wait you do realize that this was a preseason game for the lakers right? And your judgement call of saying this was possibly the worst game for Barcelona in three years could be said the same for any team under any given game. Your points make no valid argument. Explain why most of the euros want to come play in the NBA then.
Rockets Acquire: Danny Granger Dahntay Jones Lance Stephenson Wayne Ellington #2 Overall pick Incoming Salary: 15.3 mil Twolves Acquire: Kevin Martin Chase Budinger Jordan Hill #23 Pick (Houston) #42 pick (Indiana) Incoming Salary: 15.1 mil (Trade exception from Battier/Taylor) Pacers Acquire: Michael Beasley Courtney Lee N. Pekovic L. Hayward #14 pick (Houston) #38 pick (Houston) Incoming Salary: 15 mil (With trade exception from Battier) Assuming the Rockets drafted Kanter #2 new lineup would be C: Kanter / Hayes PF: Scola / Patterson SF: Granger / Twill SG: Jones / Ellington PG: Lowry / Dragic Pacers unload Granger, roll the dice with Beasley, and end up with Paul George / Courtney Lee to solidify their swingmen, and also add the 14th pick, meaning they pick 14th and 15th. Timberwolves get rid of Beasley, add veteran stud in Martin, young talent in Budinger and Hill, and receive the 23rd pick.
I don't get why people hate on Chuck when all he does is bring his heart and soul to every single game. Yeah I know he isn't your athletic long center but there are not many centers in the league today that can do what Chuck can or play as hard as him.
The NBA and Euroleague are two different games.. Suited for different skill sets.. With that said.. The NBA has superior talent by a wide margin. This is undeniable. Basketball is a game of elite talent. Elite talent goes to the NBA.
I could have sworn OHHHHHHMMMMSSSSSSS used highlights of a preseason game to prove that (1) Barcelona is better than the Lakers and (2) that Barcelona could sweep the Rockets in a 7 game series.... or does my mind trick me?
KC Wizards/Sporting KC/Whatever their name is this week, beat Manchester United in a friendly about a year back. I guess that means they would be a strong contender for the Premiership. An exhibition game is an exhibition game. I guess it is possible that Barca could steal a game or two from the Rockets in a 7 game series, if we played under Euroleague rules, the gap is probably narrowing, but the NBA still rules the basketball universe.
I'm eagerly awaiting the day in which OHMSS claims that Jordan would be just an average player in Europe. We all know it's going to come.
